What Is A Narcissist? Is There A Cure?

By Jennifer Elizabeth Masters

What Makes Someone A Narcissist?
A narcissist will appear as if they have a very large ego and feel really good about themselves. However, the outward appearance does not speak to the very deep insecurity that lies beneath the surface.

A narcissist doesn't like it when others do better than them. They delight in other's misfortune. A narcissistic parent will be jealous of their children and often will be in competition with at least one of them.

There are nine traits that make someone a narcissist. A person needs to have five of the nine to be considered a narcissist.

From Psychology Today These Nine Traits Are:

1. Has a grandiose sense of self-importance and exaggerates achievements and talents
2. Dreams of unlimited power, success, brilliance, beauty, or ideal love
3. Lacks empathy for the feelings and needs of others
4. Requires excessive admiration
5. Believes he or she is special and unique and can be understood only by, or should associate only with, other special or high-status people (or institutions)
6. Unreasonably expects special, favorable treatment or compliance with his or her wishes
7. Exploits and takes advantage of others to achieve personal ends
8. Envies others or believes they’re envious of him or her
9. Has “an attitude” of arrogance or acts that way

On The Road Home To Love

By Jennifer Elizabeth Masters

The love of one's country is a splendid thing. But why should love stop at the border?
Pablo Casals

Yesterday I flew from Denver to Toronto, Canada, the place of my birth for a family reunion. My flight was delayed before we were able to board. After boarding we had mechanical difficulties which caused us to sit for an hour and a half in the blazing sun, stifling onboard our aircraft without air conditioning.

The high temperatures affected each of us differently. In difficult situations, I like to make light of them. Seated with a group of Burlington firefighters, a mechanic, an IT guy, all from BFD (Not Big Fu**ing Deal, but Burlington Fire Department) we made light of our ordeal and discomfort enjoying each other's company. I was reminded of my roots and the camaraderie of being with fellow countrymen.

Though I have lived in the US for 36 years, more than half of my life, and love the United States, and those that I share this beautiful country with, I recognized that the roots of our early beginnings, country, parents, and programming have a profound effect on our lives. In fact, our earliest programming can affect us for the rest of our lives.

We can love the place we live, those around us and our family. We have the love for our partners, our pets, and friends. We can love our work, what we do and have a love of nature. Going home to the place of our birth brings us back to old memories of growing up.

Driving through the Ontario countryside, witnessing the beauty, Maple trees and fields of corn, wheat, smelling the freshly mowed hay I was reminded of the contrast between the dry tan colored desert and my beautiful homeland. My heart filled with feelings of love for this country that I left so long ago.

Though many years have passed since I left Ontario, the feelings of love I have for its beauty, expansive fields, and countryside, are part of who I am. Our past is part of who we are and will always remain so. Rather than attempting to cut out those parts of our past that contain pain, or sorrow, they are woven into the beautiful tapestry of who we become and who we are. Loving ourselves and forgiving those who have given us life, even if it wasn't the kind of love we wanted is imperative for us to be able to fully love others.

Love of those who have been a part of our experience is always with us, long after our divorce, breakups or death finally separate us.

Memories of learning how to swim, water ski and sailing a boat by myself began to stir from deep within. My father has been gone now for twenty-six years, a very long time. I still remember how he taught me how to swim in Lake of Bays, backing up away from me, while I shrieked, encouraging me to keep swimming. That never giving up attitude and to keep swimming continues to serve me today.

Our parents instill in us programs both positive and negative that can encourage or block us in our lives. Programming from childhood is the deepest ingrained in our unconscious. Energy clearings and hypnotherapy can be used to clear the negative limiting beliefs that block us from being and having what we desire.

Recurring Patterns

On my very first morning waking up in Canada, my mother was irritated with me that I had to locate an Internet cafe (Tim Horton's) to write my blog. Her desire to control me is still present after sixty some years. I have changed, but she hasn't. Her issues aren't mine. My independence and self-love guide me. Instead of trying to please my mother, I do what is best for me. My inner compass is stronger than my need to make her happy. I recognize that her issues aren't mine. I love my mother, but I love myself even more.

Acceptance of Others

Mom is ninety-four. Although she has mellowed in many ways, she is still who she is. I can choose to accept her the way she is, or fight with her. I choose to accept her as she is. I cannot change her and have no desire to. I choose to love her as she is and be true to myself.

Our family of origin take us back to our roots and remind us of how far we have come. Celebrate your successes. Enjoy the ride, however, bumpy it may be. It is up to us to make good choices, react, or witness. I could complain about my mother or enjoy her company. I choose the latter.

Jennifer is a healer that clears limiting beliefs, blocks, and self-sabotage from the past so that you can have the life, love and happiness you desire. Life Hacks for Family Happiness: 15 Ways To Think Differently

By Jennifer Elizabeth Masters

After two back-to-back weekends, first with my adult son, Adam and then all three of my adult children for my daughter's college graduation, I have some suggestions that will help you enjoy life and your family more.

Graduations, celebrations and holidays bring us together with our family. Many people dread family time. Let's face it, who knows you better than your children, parents, and siblings? When people know you well they have the innate ability to touch on our most tender trigger points. Family can bring us joy, but they can also dredge up old stories and pain that hasn't been healed.

  1. Stop trying to change them. Acceptance is part of unconditional love. If you don't accept someone as they are, there are also parts of yourself that you reject as well. If you look at others and ask why don't they just _________ you are judging and criticizing. It doesn't help your relationship when you don't accept your family members as they are. When you stop "helping" family members with your suggestions for improving their life, you will have more peace within you as well.
  2. Let go of control. The only person we have total control over is ourselves. Letting go of control of others will allow you and them more peace and ease between you.
  3. Don't say, "I told you so!" Even if you are great at predicting outcomes, like I am, telling your family members that you were right about what was going to happen creates irritation and will destroy your relationship.
  4. Remember each person is having their own experience. You may have been on the planet longer, had more experience and learned so much. Each person has to learn their lessons their way along their road of life. We can't short-circuit someone else's experience. We can't save another person. We can only save ourselves.
  5. Keep negative comments to yourself. Nothing irritates others more than when we critique another's life by condemning their decisions or choices.
  6. Put yourself in their shoes. Until we walk in someone else's shoes we have no idea of what they experience.
  7. Be compassionate. When a family member tells you a story of woe be caring, kind and listen. Sometimes that is all they need.
  8. Be sympathetic but don't encourage self-pity. Sometimes family members wallow in self-pity. You can offer questions to guide a shift in attitude by asking how they could possibly think differently about their situation?
  9. Ask questions. When we ask questions we are showing concern, that we are listening, and care about what our family member is talking about.
  10. Remind yourself that you were in a similar situation once. When we have the ability to apply what another person is experiencing to our own life we can see similar patterns, areas we can continue to be compassionate for ourselves and grow. Personal growth is what we are here for. Nothing is happening by accident.
  11. Everyone is reflecting back to us. Relationships provide a wonderful mirror into our own soul. Rather than thinking you are better than the other person look within and see where you could make some changes for the better.
  12. What you see in others, you also have within you. Okay, I may be repeating myself here. It is important to notice what is happening in our relationships as there is always something for us in everything that happens. What similarities do you have with this other person? What parts of you need to soften, and become more loving? What patterns are coming up for you? What in you is being triggered? If emotions are surfacing within you from another's presence, spend a little time asking what is in it for you? The happier you are with you, the more ease you will have in all your relationships - especially family.
  13. We all want to be loved and accepted for who we are. When we critique other's lives we push them away. If you are not accepting your family as they are, you may find yourself a very lonely person. Non-acceptance of others may cause your family to avoid you. Ask yourself if you are being loving? Are you being accepting? Or are you trying to change your family members?
  14. Forgive. Families have conflict. We have disagreements. Forgiveness is a part of a healthy, balanced relationship. Forgiveness has been scientifically proven to help us live longer. If you are still holding onto the past, ask yourself why? Holding onto resentment, anger and pain from the past isn't healthy. You will end up causing yourself health problems from not letting go. Do the Ho'oponopono Prayer of forgiveness beginning with yourself and then forgive your family member.
  15. Keep your comments to a minimum: "That's fabulous!" "That's a bummer!" "Wow! That is wonderful for you!" "Congratulations!" Our personal negative commentary about another's life especially when it is a family member creates conflict. They might not be doing it your way, but that is the point of living our own life, isn't it?
Remember even if you have become awakened and self-actualized you might be rendering judgment on another person. Remind yourself to be compassionate with yourself and others. Our family is important. Healing issues with parents, siblings and offspring will bring you much joy and happiness. Unhealed relationships will bring you down and cause you pain.

Even when behavior seems to be unforgivable, forgive anyway. Forgiveness is for you. Forgiveness releases you from the burden of resentment and suffering.

If you have issues with a family member it is because you have something inside of you that needs some TLC and awareness.

When we lovingly accept ourselves as we are with all our faults
and flaws, we have healthy self-esteem.

How To Create The Mindset For Success Through Hypnotherapy

By Jennifer Elizabeth Masters

Beliefs carry as much clout, if not more than our DNA. We inherit our parent's beliefs about money, success, and love. What we believe whether it is conscious or unconscious returns to us patterns and examples of what our parents encountered and believed. Perhaps you are dealing with an income ceiling that you can't break through or have issues with food because your parents were raised during the depression. I recommend you join me tonight for a live hypnotherapy session.

JOIN ME TONIGHT FOR A LIVE HYPNOTHERAPY SESSION!  5:00 PM PST/ 8:00 PM EST

$20.00 for the entire session. Next week's program is FREE!

To find our core beliefs we have to follow the emotion. When someone makes a statement about you, does it affect you?

Our core beliefs could be stagnating and stopping us from our greatness. If you believe what others say about you or focus your energy on other's opinions you are giving power and energy away to something that doesn't concern you.

Thoughts Create

Having power over the mind is imperative to create positive outcomes in your life. There is vast difference between thinking and directing thought consciously. Negative beliefs impede positive thoughts. Clearing these from the unconscious mind allows creative energy to flow.

Other's Beliefs:

You will never amount to anything. (and you believe it)
You are lazy.                                     (you take it on as fact)
You will never have money.             (it must be true!)
You will never be successful.            (my father said it, it must be                                                                true!)
No one in our family has ever had money. (Therefore, you won't either)

What we believe to be true is what governs our lives. If you believe that life is hard it will be. If you believe that you don't have what it takes to be successful, you won't be.

Over-Eating And Diabetes

One of my family members was not wanted before he was born. A feeling of being unloved and wanted was an imprint prior to his birth. This imprint of being unwanted caused him to feel unworthy his entire life. His insecurity and overeating has caused health severe health issues.

His feeling that he missed out on the sweetness of life fueled his diabetes. At age 70, he weighs over 350 pounds, has an enlarged heart. He eats to feel loved. He uses food to fill the emptiness he feels inside. Unfortunately, his eating is killing him.

Hypnotherapy Removes The Root Cause

Hypnotherapy gets to the core of the belief and removes it. The unconscious imprints, beliefs and programs are what run the show. The issue is that most people are totally unaware because these programs happen automatically. The only way you see evidence of what is happening in your unconscious mind is by looking at your out-picturing in your world.

Does life appear too hard or difficult?
Do you feel you are never enough?
Do you buy into what others think and believe about you?
Do you have issues with money slipping through your fingers?
Do you work your butt off but not get anywhere?
Have you tried everything, but nothing seems to work?

95% Of Our Thoughts Are Unconscious

I have been a hypnotherapist since 1998. I became a Hypnotherapist trainer and Neurolinguistic Trainer in 2011. Hypnotherapy is a powerful way to remove negative root causes that create havoc in our lives and replace the negative with powerful affirmations and life-affirming positive phrases that re-program the mind.

Cascade of Miracle Prayer
Testimonial From An Attendee:

(This is about a prayer that I pray at the end of my sessions)

I didn't get a chance to tell you that the cascade of miracles prayer is awesome. I have been listening to the financial clearing daily and each time I listen to it and I add my prayers for other people, I have noticed unexpected sales, small amounts of cash and free stuff show up for me, almost immediately.

At first, I didn't make the connection, but I jokingly said to my daughter that each time I said the prayer for someone else, something wonderful happens for me. Then, it clicked. So, thank you, thank you, thank you. I look forward to great things in 2016.

You are indeed awesome and I am delighted and so grateful that you are taking the time to help us each week. C. Morris, Atlanta, GA
