Sinus Infections: How To Train Your Inner Dragon

By Jennifer Elizabeth Masters

Irritable, agitated, bitchy? What the heck happened to change me from the happy peaceful woman to feel so darned bitchy and irritable?

Two words, my mother! Those closest to us have the greatest impact on us for the duration of our lives. Our mothers can trigger us very quickly because they know exactly where to poke, prod or press.

What causes a sinus infection?

Someone close to us that has made us angry, and we avoid speaking the truth to them for whatever reason is the root cause of a sinus infection.

If you have been following me for some time, you have heard about my mother, the narcissist. My mother is a stickler for politeness and thank you notes. She has alienated all her grandchildren who no longer speak to her. She cuts people off from gifts if they don't send her a thank you note.

Mrs. Manners (my mother) was rude to me. I called her after weeks of silence when she last called me, "STUPID," and she was rude. She didn't want to talk to me because she was watching "her show" (soap opera).

I love deeply. To find my mother so resistant and rude to me when manners are what she preaches to everyone else, made me feel hugely disrespected. Manners don't work just one way. If someone expects you to be polite and mannerly to them, they ought to be polite to others, right?

A loving relationship is much more important to me than any darn television show. However, my mother obviously didn't feel the same. She didn't want to interrupt her show.

Watch this video and discover the truth about sinus infections.

Feeling Unhappy In Your Relationship? Follow These 3 Steps For Resolution

By Jennifer Elizabeth Masters

We have all been there. We feel stuck, blocked and unhappy. Our sex life might be bland or non-existent, and arguments and strife might be what we consume for breakfast. It doesn't feel good to not be on the same page as our partners. The easiest way for us to feel better is to blame the other person. The problem with blame is it makes us a victim and as you know none of us are. We make choices
and are where we are because of the beliefs we have and the decisions made.

When we feel unhappy, we look to the other person as the source of our unhappiness. However, taking responsibility for where we are is something that each of us has to do to begin to shift our energy and change direction from negative thinking which blocks to gratitude and the downward spiral of negativity.

Responsibility is the key to healing.  JEM
Step One

Once we recognize that we are in blame, we have to change our focus and look for ways to resolve the mess we feel we are in. To solve a problem, we have to look at it from a perspective we haven't used yet. Begin by using a query to uncover the truth. Ask yourself the following questions and write your answers in a journal. I feel your resistance, and I get it. Writing involves a little inner work to get the clarity we need. Introspection and clarity will set you free and allow you to shift quickly. Basically, when we refuse to look inside it is because we are in denial of the truth using the small part of us (ego) believing we are right and the other(s) are wrong. Remember the reason we are in a relationship in the first place is to grow and evolve not stagnate and blame.
Journaling your answers also gives you a baseline to return to in a week, month or a year to see how far you have come.
  • Have I set healthy boundaries?
  • Have I kept silent about issues that upset me?
  • Have I griped, groaned and complained rather than looked for a solution?
  • Is my mindset negative?
  • Am I only seeing my partner's negative qualities and refusing to recognize their wonderful side?
  • How do I feel about myself? Am I overweight? Am I depressed? Am I complaining rather than living in a state of gratitude?
Step Two

Now that you have some insight, can you see what you can do to change the course of history and the way you feel? Our feelings are a barometer for the three "Cs." Clarity, Cour-Correction, and Congratulations. Once you feel better to take the time to congratulate yourself for recognizing your patterns. Old patterns mean we are living in the past and dragging it into your present circumstances. We can't evolve beyond where we are by living under the shadow of old stories, limiting beliefs and programming. Think of it this way, imagine watching Leave It To Beaver today or Little House on The Prairie. How do you feel? Those old television programs are like the old programs that are running your current day reality. We can choose something different. The way we change old programming is by choosing to respond differently.

It is not the event that causes the damage, it is our reaction and response to it that creates our programming
Step Three

Maybe you have an issue with your mother which also bubbles over into your current romantic relationship. Perhaps mommy is critical, cold and negative. Is she the problem? Maybe she didn't love you the way you wanted to be loved. The little you probably would say, "Damn straight she's the problem and always has been!" Remember what was stated earlier about taking responsibility? Blaming mommy (or anyone) makes us a victim. I know I did it for years. My mother was my kryptonite! I could be strong, powerful and authentic with everyone but my mother. When I was in my mother's presence, it was as if all my strength was drained from me. Why? Because I was operating with my small child Jennifer programming. I became the people-pleaser, making mommy happy. I used to do everything in my power to keep peace with my mother and keep her happy because I wanted her to love me. I even married a man because she told me to. My mother was so worried about what her friends would think about me living with a man. My mother was very worried about appearances. Appearance and keeping up with the Joneses is an ego-based program.

Worrying about what other's think of us is none of our business. JEM

What have you done to make your mother or someone else happy? What have you given up in the process? Are they any happier as a result of your cartwheels and twisting yourself into a pretzel? The truth is, no one can make anyone else happy. Our mother's happiness isn't our responsibility. Our spouse's happiness isn't our responsibility either.
  1. Be honest with yourself. How much energy have you spent attempting to do what other's wanted you to do? Stop wasting your precious energy and power on another person.
  2. Instead of staying mute use your words and voice to state what you want and don't want.
  3. Set healthy boundaries with others. Remember every day you are training others how you want to be treated. If you have allowed the behavior to continue, it could take a little time to retrain others. Be consistent. Think of the other person as a little puppy or a child. Each time someone attempts to get you to do something recognize the manipulation. Just say, "That doesn't work for me, it is not what I want for myself."
  4. Watch your emotional reaction to other people. Remember no one can "make you feel or do anything." You are in control of the way you feel.
  5. Don't stew or boil over what others do or ask of you. Remember your reaction to their requests, prodding or insistence doesn't have to continue. Tell them, "No, thank you."
  6. Get clarity on what you want and don't want. Most people are unclear about what they want and don't want which creates issues within relationships.
  7. Notice what you feel. If someone is pushing your boundaries, anger may bubble up. Anger is there for a reason so that we recognize when our boundaries are being crossed. We have to put our hand up and say stop.
  8. Until our behavior changes, we have not changed. If you are still doing and acting the way you did as a child you are responding with old programming.
  9. Move out of fear of the new and different knowing you are safe and worthy. What another person says or does is not who you are. No one defines you but you. Stand in compassion and self-love using the, "I LOVE ME," mantra.
The amazing thing about our brain is that it creates new synapses - hence new programs when we are consistent with new behavior. Mantras work when we use them consistently. We can reprogram hate, anger, shame, guilt, and all of our negative emotions to be different. In the past, my mother would feel illicit guilt from all of us kids. I stopped allowing her to "make me feel," guilty. If a program continues long enough, it is imprinted in our cellular memory.

Our cellular memory can be changed, I've done it. When we reprogram our cellular memory, we heal cancer, tumors, Fibromyalgia, auto-immune disease, anxiety, depression. All of it can be healed by thinking differently. Meditation, mantras and coaching will help you get there faster. It took me over thirty years on my own. When we want something different and are sick and tired of being sick and tired, we persevere every day. Working on ourselves isn't something we do here and there, it is a daily practice that changes our lives so that we have a magical life full of wonder, joy, and happiness; it is where I live and breathe every day.

Part of my work involves Telesummits where I have a 90-minute interview so you can hear me live and receive a free gift or purchase a package that is an incredible saving. I am involved with several Telesummits in the next two months. You Wealth Revolution and Radiant Intuitive Woman are the most recent. I'd love it if you joined Dee Wallace, myself along with 22 other powerful healers on the Radiant Intuitive Woman Summit happening right now.

Can't do this alone? You don't have to. Let's set up a time to talk. I'd love to hear about your situation and see how I can help. Send me an e-mail, and we'll set up a time to chat.

Without Our Mothers Where Would We Be?

By Jennifer Elizabeth Masters

Whether you are male or female each of us has our mother to thank for bringing us into this world. Our father contributed to conception, but it was through our mother's birth canal we struggled for air some of us kicking and screaming. Without our mother's life force, we would not be here to celebrate her today.

No matter the trauma you have experienced, our mother gave us life. She didn't abort, terminate or expel us. We have a great deal to be grateful for because of our mother.

Even if you were given up for adoption, you are alive today because she gave you life. Thank you, mother.

Our mothers fed, cared for us, changed our diapers, nursed and bottle fed us.

As we began to walk, she shared the excitement of our new discoveries.

Mothers are the ones that teach us table manners, etiquette, social skills and how to speak. Mothers are the ones that encourage their children to get up and run, to write, to sing, to play the piano even when they weren't able to do so.

Our mothers took us to ballet, tap, karate, baseball, soccer, singing, piano lessons, for haircuts, dentist appointments and watched us in our dance recitals, and church plays even when we were terrible and forgot our lines.

We must heal this very important relationship to feel whole, valued and validated. We might never have heard the praise we longed for or the exact words we expected. Our relationship with our mother above all others must be re-written with a positive perspective. She had her personal issues, shadow material and limiting beliefs that prevented her from being everything we thought we needed. The truth is our mother was exactly what our soul ordered for our greatest and highest good; no matter how it turned out.

Sacrifice is part of a mother's burden. She gave up a lot for us. She gave up her figure, perky breasts, and her youth. She had less time to do what she loved, fewer clothes, and hairdos for herself, her profession, acting or singing career she made sacrifices. Children require time, attention money, and sometimes rob a mother's joy. Mothers can be disappointed that their life didn't turn out the way they dreamed it would. No matter what she gave up you know it was a sacrifice of her time, energy and money.

How can you view your relationship with your mother differently so that you are able to see her life from a higher perspective? What trauma did she experience in her life? What did she overcome from her past? What challenges did she have that affected her ability to love you the way you wanted to be loved?

I work with both men and women in my sessions. One person that comes up again and again in conversations about life challenges is our mother. Mothers are the biggest contributor to our pain, suffering, and story of woes. We often look for partners who mimic our mother's personality traits. So today, let's salute our mothers for giving us something to work on and making our lives so....... interesting. Until we have children of our own we will never recognize what it means to be a mother. It is beyond a shadow of a doubt the most challenging and thankless of jobs without any remuneration. Mothers do the following for free:

  • Carried us in her belly for nine months
  • endured backache, hemorrhoids, and stretch marks
  • experienced the torturous pain of labor and delivery
  • breast fed or bottle fed us every four hours or less: midnight feeding, 2:00 AM feeding, 4:30 AM feeding
  • lost sleep for years while we cried, screamed and yelled
  • changed thousands of diapers
  • paced the floors with colicky babies in the middle of the night
  • countless hours at hospitals, doctors and dentist offices and in waiting rooms
  • bench warming in all kinds of weather cheering on her athletes
  • ferrying to friends houses
  • cooking our favorite meals
  • baking cookies, cakes, gifts for teachers
  • sleepovers when no one sleeps
  • birthday parties
  • shopping for school projects
  • helped us complete school projects
  • drove us to school with our school projects
  • encouraged scholastic ability even when she didn't have it
  • countless kittens, puppies, sheep, horses, goats, rabbits and other farm animals that we bring home for care
  • kissing our cuts and bruises
  • wiping tears
  • cleaning up vomit and other items we shall not mention by name
  • listening to our breakup stories
  • hearing about our exes
  • helping us pack, move and move again
  • listening to our complaints about our children, husbands, wives and animals
  • listening to us complain about our weight, jobs, and unhappiness
  • listening to us complain about not having enough money, love, attention
  • waiting for the phone to ring while we are busy with our pets, children and partners
  • waiting for us to visit
  • bailing us out of jam after jam and then making us jam
Jennifer and her mother 95 in July 2017
Mothers are underappreciated, underrated, and maligned; yet make the greatest impact of any person in our lives. Strange isn't it that we cause the greatest pain to our mothers through childbirth then she is who gives us the greatest pain. Mothers are the one we want to please the most, the one most of us try to make happy. Thank your mother whether she is still on the earth or not for giving you life and allowing you to have the experience of today.

If it weren't for our mothers we wouldn't be here. Here's to you and all mothers everywhere! Thank you, Mom!

3 Reasons People Pleasing Isn't Loving

By Jennifer Elizabeth Masters

We want others around us to be happy. We certainly don't want to rock the boat, because there are ramifications for changing a paradigm. People pleasing is a negative self-sabotaging behavior that steals your joy. When you stop pleasing others, this will shift your happiness quotient in a big way when you stop trying to please everyone.

1. When we give all we have to others, there is no time for ourselves. We put everyone ahead of us. We stay up too late, don't make time to exercise, and don't value ourselves enough to eat well, exercise regularly or take care of our needs.

Poor personal boundaries are at the core of this issue.

People who care for other's needs forget about themselves. We might run our kids to karate, soccer, cello lessons, religious classes, correct the problems in rental contracts, leases, pay the bills, walk the dogs, clean out the litter boxes, make the beds, do the laundry, pull the weeds, mow the grass, have sex with our partner, cook dinner, pack lunches, answer e-mails, volunteer in our community and then fall into bed exhausted at night because we can't say NO!

2. We put everyone first, before us. When we put everyone ahead of us, we make ourselves insignificant. When everyone comes ahead of you, no one takes care of your needs. Your needs are not met, and you become resentful, angry or depressed (never mind exhausted).

3. We are also perfectionistic thinking we have to be perfect. We might feel no one can do the dishes like we do, or pack the lunches as well as we do, or drive as safely as we do. We are unable to delegate effectively because we micromanage the way others do these tasks. We might even critique those who are attempting to take some of the workload away

The Root Cause

Trauma in childhood is the root cause. Being a people pleaser is rooted in two unconscious programs. Fear of failure and our fear of rejection. We try not to disappoint others. Our fear is that we won't receive love from them.

We may try our best to make decisions that make people happy. We look for validation from others to make us feel better. When we don't get it, we might feel upset, resentful or angry.

We feel if we make a mistake or don't do certain things for others we will be rejected or not loved. Often adults who have low self-esteem, like me (in the past) look for love from their children or partners. Our partners and children can't give us our self-esteem, we need to give it to ourselves.

Sometimes, our parents expected us to be perfect, or they would not give us love. The cornerstone of being a people pleaser is from
only being loved conditionally, when our behavior was good.

We were shamed as children and still carry shame unconsciously in our cells.

Shame

As adults, we feel shame when we aren't perfect. When we have healthy self-esteem, we stop feeling the need to be perfect. There is such a thing as good enough, doing our best but allowing ourselves to have faults and flaws.

There is no such thing as failure, there are only lessons and gifts. JEM

When we lovingly accept ourselves as we are with all our faults and flaws, we have healthy self-esteem.

We Have To Heal Our Relationship With Our Mothers To Have Love Now

By Jennifer Elizabeth Masters

Men are what their mothers made them. Ralph Waldo Emerson

You might not like where we are going today. In fact, if someone told me I needed to heal the relationship with my mother to have the love I desired, I would not have believed them, till I lived it.

If we hold disdain, disregard, disrespect, hatred, resentment or and ill will towards our mothers, we will not receive unconditional love from anyone else. P.S. I have proof!

My mother and I have had a rollercoaster of a ride of ups, downs, twists and turns. I have hated her, resented her and been completely triggered by her presence and her voice. When I was about fifteen, I asked her why she was such a bitch. She beat me over my back while I was on my hands and knees washing the kitchen floor. I think I was fifteen at the time.

There was more abuse I won't mention here (read Odyssey Victim to Victory). Now, I call my mother daily. I asked her this morning as I

asked her yesterday, "How did you get so wise?" She responded yesterday that she had learned so much through me and my experiences.

Today, she said, "If you haven't learned anything by the time you get to be 94 there is something seriously wrong!"

Our mothers may not have given us what we wanted when we were children, but they did give us what we needed according to our soul contract. No one has such an intimate connection with us from birth that can do such damage to our psyche as our mothers.

For many of us, like me, our mothers might have been emotionally unavailable, cold, cruel, unloving and harsh. They might have been absent, alcoholics or drug addicts. They might have died when we were very young. The point is that all that happened was pre-destined for your soul's highest good.

These events happened so that you would experience emotional
pain, suffering and eventually heal, grow, evolve and become
enlightened. It is what you are here for. It is what you have asked for.

I have done hundreds of hours of forgiveness work with my mother. I have cleared until I couldn't uncover another issue.

My mother and I now have a loving close and connected relationship. She no longer triggers me to react. In fact, even when she tries, she can't. I accept her the way she is. I can't make her work on herself anymore than she can push me to do anything I don't want to do.

It wasn't easy to forgive. It wasn't easy to let go of what happened in the past. I did it for me, not for her. However, she benefitted as well. I am her only daughter. I am the only one that has a close, loving relationship with her. I did it so that I could have what I have always wanted: an unconditional love that nurtures and supports me in a healthy balanced way.

Today, my relationship with my molesters and all perpetrators is one of complete forgiveness and neutrality/love. We need to be in an emotionally loving state with others, without triggers to have true love.

Ready To Do This On Your Own?

  1. Recognize that your mother had to contend with her issues of abandonment and pain.
  2. Put yourself in her shoes. Feel what it would feel like to be an orphan at five like my mother was, or to be beaten, unloved, uncared for or neglected.
  3. Do the Ho'oponopono Prayer of forgiveness for you for asking for this in your soul contract. Spend at least twenty minutes in prayer repeating the prayer below slowly. You may cry. Allow whatever needs to come up to surface. Don't push emotions back down. Feel them fully.
  4. Repeat step three for your mother.
  5. Feel compassion for yourself.
  6. Feel compassion for your mother. This one may be difficult. Do it regardless. Anything worth having is worth doing the work it takes. Remember holding resentment causes cancer and other autoimmune diseases. (I healed both of mine through loving me and forgiveness.)
  7. Say a prayer of gratitude for your mother giving you life. You have no idea the sacrifices that she made for you.
  8. Begin a relationship with your mother in a new way. Send her a note. Call her. Tell her you are sorry for anything you did to cause her harm.
  9. If all of the above are too challenging for you just yet, envision a bowl of fluffy pink icing. In your mind spackle mom head to toe and front to back with this fluffy pink icing. (Yes, this is a way to send love to her when you feel anything but!) Do this every day until you can feel the love flowing between you and your mother. THIS WORKS! You don't have to have a conversation with the person to heal the relationship. We are all energy. Energy flows wherever we send it - even to those who have left the physical plane.

Ho'oponopono Prayer of Forgiveness

This prayer is a Hawaiian Kahuna Healing Prayer. Powerful and profound. Repeat slowly for at least twenty minutes without distractions of phone, music or television. Allow your emotions to surface. Cry if you need to, allow yourself to FEEL FULLY. Doing less does not release the trapped emotions. Get an energy clearing to assist you.

I am sorry
Please Forgive me
I love you
Thank you

If you are ready to have the love of your dreams, connect with me and let's partner for your healing so you can have the love you desire. I did it! You can do it! I will show you the way, lovingly with my velvet hammer. Says she smiling. It took me over thirty years - longer if you count from the time I decided to become enlightened at the age of sixteen.

The Delicate Balance of Motherhood

By Jennifer Elizabeth Masters

From sexy woman to breastfeeding Madonna, women wear so many hats that they often don't know if they are coming or going. Multi-tasking is a way of life for a mother and is one of the most difficult jobs a woman can perform. Children don't show up with a how-to manual, and we certainly don't get paid for staying up all night with high fevers and croup.

We walk a delicate balancing act of woman, mother, teacher, Guide, and protector for our family. It's a learn as we go job void of training or workshops to teach us the multitude of skills we require to doctor, love and care for our children. We do our best to moderate our mother's style with our own. We often find ourselves attempting perfection and leaving our men wondering where the sexy mamma went?

Balance in anything is a challenge. Motherhood pushes our limits to extremes. Raising children is often a thankless task that leaves us wondering who we are and what we have become.

Tough Love

Women today are challenged differently than women in the sixties. Most are breadwinners as well as housekeepers and caregivers. Teenagers take us into a new level of crazy drama-filled days and nights. We lie awake waiting till our chicks have returned to the nest before falling asleep exhausted.

We walk a fine line between enablers and supporters making mistakes along the way. By the time our last child is ready for college, we have morphed multiple times changing from the insecure girl to womanly and wise Goddess.

Our Biggest Teachers

Our children see us differently than we see ourselves. They often speak truth into our hearts that we can no longer see or feel. Once our offspring become adults, we can see the fruits of our labor or the damage we created by our misguided parenting. Most mothers are far from perfect, but certainly destined for Sainthood.

Whether your mother was emotionally available, had challenges with her personal trauma, or not, our mothers have done the best they could do with what they were given. Mothers more than fathers teach us about relationships. They love us the best they can. If you haven't done so already, call your mother! If your mother isn't on this plane any longer recall the best of her.

Happy Mother's Day to all of you mothers out there! I wish you all the joy, beauty, and peace you so deserve. Much love to you.

Meet Dennis, This is How He Developed Diabetes

By Jennifer Elizabeth Masters

During my travels to foreign lands and distant places, The Universe sends me to guide, counsel and heal those who wouldn't normally seek help. On my recent trip to Colorado, I met an unsuspecting gentleman we'll call Dennis (name changed for his anonymity) in Grand Junction, Colorado.

I am not a wall flower I engage with those around me when I need to. Instead of choosing a table in the quiet part of the restaurant, I was drawn to the upstairs room for breakfast. The fact that I was dining in a restaurant was rare. I normally carry healthy foods in a cooler and keep to myself while traveling. I have a long way to go and usually eat in my car. I was Guided to eat breakfast in the hotel restaurant at a particular time.

My attention was drawn to two men seated at separate tables, but conversing happily as if old friends. I asked, could I join the party? I was given a warm welcome and introduced myself to one man with high blood pressure and another that was decidedly overweight, but very jolly, both named Dennis. Weird? Yes. Very weird.

The uniqueness of the moment was not lost on me. I had recently begun dating a gentleman also named Dennis (name also changed).

Synchronicities show up to send us a message. "Pay attention!" My awareness was sharpened as I watched and listened. There is often what some would call magic or Divine Intervention that surrounds my life. Because I am awake, I pay attention to the signs around me and the Guidance I receive. I never know why I am going somewhere when I follow and trust my Guidance, but I am always rewarded for doing so.

Upon introducing myself, we began talking about health and happiness. Eventually, Dennis number two said he had been single all his life. I assured him there was a profound reason why this occurred. He asked if he seemed unhappy. I said he appeared happy on the surface, but his weight told another story. That was when Dennis told me he was diabetic. I wasn't surprised at all. Often men who are in their 50's are overweight, diabetic have sad stories to tell from childhood Dennis began to tell me his.

Our unconscious is what is running the show.

What Is The Emotional Cause Of Diabetes?

Diabetes is caused by missing out on the sweetness of life. It is a longing for what might have been, a need to control and a deep sorrow.

Dennis began to tell me his story. He loved his mother deeply. His father was an abusive alcoholic who physically beat his mother repeatedly. As a little boy, he often stepped between his parents to stop his father from hitting his mother.

On the last occasion, Dennis' mother told him, "Not this time." With two black eyes and multiple bruises on her face and body where she had been kicked by her husband, she took Dennis to an aunt's home and said good-bye to him. She finally had enough.

She boarded a bus to leave her husband and son.  Dennis' mother never made it out of town. She died at the age of 25 "of natural causes" on the bus that was to take her to safety. Her husband was never charged with battery, nor her murder. No one in his or her dysfunctional family questioned what happened to her. At the age of 5, Dennis remembers just having said good-bye and then having to dress up to attend his mother's funeral. As you can imagine, this was too much for his little innocent brain to assimilate.

Today, Dennis is currently surrounded by sweets at the convenience store he owns. He is constantly craving sugar to fill his emptiness and longing for what might have been. His unconscious mind is running the show. On the outside, he appears happy, jolly and balanced. The fact that he has never been able to be emotionally available to a woman and enjoy a committed relationship that lasts is a sign that his internal pain from past events is still present. He has emotions that are trapped inside his body, that I felt when I met him.

Many people are crying on the inside but show up as happy individuals on the surface. Robin Williams was one such person. If you look at someone with severe depression their smile seems false. Looking back at Robin Williams photos and videos you can see the underlying sadness that never left him.

Why Weight Gain Is Prevalent

A big belly is a protective device for our internal sorrow and emotional unavailability. Many of us carry an emotional burden in our abdomens.

Our power center is located in our solar plexus. People with emotional trauma often protect this area unconsciously with over-eating and belly fat. When emotions begin to surface, we often crave sweets like chocolate, ice cream or
Women get diabetes also
cookies to stuff those emotions back where they came from. The longer that we continue to stuff these emotions, the more damage that is done to our physical body. Pancreatic cancer can also develop at a later stage.

Those with diabetes often feel that they were unloved as children. An emotional trauma, like Dennis, had contributed to profound inner sorrow and sadness that can be cleared. Their physical body is what speaks volumes about what is true for them internally. An energy clearing to remove trapped emotions as well as a progression of the inner child to clear the trauma from the past is what is needed for Dennis to begin to thrive.

Inside Dennis is still the five-year-old little boy who's mother said good-bye and left him emotionally abandoned. Many children of alcoholics have deep trauma inside them that needs healing as well. Those children of alcoholics often get stuck in a loop that takes them back to their deepest trauma (age 5 for Dennis) when relationship challenges surface. This loop causes havoc in adult relationships especially when both parties have deep trauma.

Birds of A Feather

We often attract others who have similar issues to help us resolve
them through introspection. This is deep work that often requires an outsider that isn't emotionally charged to help dissect what is truly going on without the triggers. This is some of what I help couples and individuals with.

Emotional abandonment creates emotional unavailability. We appear present, but can't allow anyone to see our true selves without walls, shields or false personas.

The Love of A Mother

By Jennifer Elizabeth Masters

Where would you be if you had never been born. What if your mother decided to terminate the pregnancy? What if she thought she was not ready to have a family and you were never born? What then?

Each of us has a mother. Whether we have close relationships with them, adversarial, or our mothers are no longer living. Our mother carried us, gave us life and gave birth to us.
She endured pain, suffering and hardship because of us, in some way. Instead of buying a new outfit, car or home, our mother's did without. They cooked, cleaned, did laundry and kept us in line. Each one of us has our mother to thank for bringing us into this world so that we could shine, rise above and go beyond where our parents did. Every one of us learned something from our mothers.
Mom and my sister-in-law Sue visiting on their way back from Hawaii

My mother was born in Ethelbert, Manitoba. Her mother died right after childbirth, before she was four years old. Her father committed suicide six months later. Her siblings wanted to stay together, which made it very difficult for any of them to be adopted. Raised in an orphanage until her grandmother finally decided to bring all five children to her tiny home, knew hardship well.
With little money she played with fish instead of dolls, dressings them up in bits of cloth, pretending they were baby dolls. Her grandmother was a tough old bird, who took no nonsense from her charges. She was unloving, stiff and stoic. You can imagine with these hardships, that there was more to come.
Skipping over the worst, she and her sisters moved to Toronto, where they went to finishing school, learning to cook, sew and take care of a home. They all went to work very early. As a result my mother is an amazing cook, terrific seamstress and keeps her home clean.
She gave up her spending money so that I could take piano lessons. She pushed me to write, seeing talent in me that I never did. Everyone of my siblings today is a great cook, avid gardener and still alive because of the healthy living she taught us.
My father was an avid gardener. He grew all sorts of vegetables in our backyard. We had cherry trees, apple trees and lilac which bloomed in the spring. I remember being in elementary school, coming home for lunch and my mother had a beautiful vase of freshly picked lilacs on the dining room hutch. I still remember the way they smelled. No other lilacs had that fragrance, growing in Canada - they were a heady fragrance, strong, sweet and lovely.

At 92, my mother still lives alone, reads six books a week and plays cards with the ladies in her building. She is healthy, vibrant, strong. Although her driving skills scare me, she still manages to drive herself around. Her eyesight and health are very good. I have her genes, beauty and have learned so much from her.
Our mothers did the best they could for us so that we could rise above, be better, be more intelligent, and go further than they did. They want the best for us. They taught us what relationships are all about. My parents were married for 49 years, just shy of their 50th anniversary. They loved each other. Their relationship was not perfect - who's is? They stuck it out, side by side, helping each of us out when they could
Without our mother's where would we be. If your mother is still living, isn't it time you gave her a call and forgave, loved and respected her for all she did for you?

Without the love of a mother, my mother, Veronica grew up feeling empty, less than, unloved. She still talks about the impact of not having a mother in her life. I can't imagine what that would be like, can you?
