My Latest Discovery About Trees: California Coastal Roadtip
By Jennifer Elizabeth Masters
The drive through the desert town of Bakersfield and the wine country was uneventful, monotonous even, so different than driving through Valencia, Fillmore and Santa Paula towards SantaBarbara. I drove by dead almond trees, thousands of which had been cut waiting to be ground up for mulch. Eventually, we arrived in Paso Robles wine country with hundreds, of acres of vineyards. I doubled back to stop at an avocado ranch for some huge fresh-piked Haas avocados.
We drove northward to the Hearst Castle, arriving right at closing time - 5:00 PM. I wasn't up for the entire tour and didn't want to leave my dogs in the car for two hours anyway.
The sunlight streaming through the overhead canopy and heady fragrance of fresh earth, composted leaves, fresh greenery was soothing to my soul. Ferns, poison ivy, and wildflowers dotted the underbrush. Several trees were laden with Spanish moss that I hadn't seen since I left Georgia.
I had forgotten how much I loved being surrounded by trees. The beach takes second place to being surrounded by a rich green canopy of huge 50-foot trees. I didn't realize how much my soul missed trees. Living in the desert, I have to go to a park to be around trees; they are few and far between.
The blanket of green enveloping me lifted my spirits. Breathing in the quiet, unplugging from my cell phone, computer and clients was exactly what my soul needed. No one to talk to. No one's problems to hear. Just me and the forest. My love affair is with the earth, one that forever supports me in my health, fulfillment, and connection. The twisted tree limbs overhead were magnificent and powerful. I get high being in nature naturally.
I lay on a grassy hillside among golden stalks ready to drop their seeds for next year. The dark green leaves overhead in the clear blue sky created a beautiful contrast as the Jays chattered and flitted from one tree to the next. Four woodpeckers flew over me, and I closed my eyes breathing deeply. My lungs expanded in the cool fresh air. I felt so grateful.
I am in love! I have always loved the beach, but this weekend on an impromptu road trip, I found that the ocean is fabulous for rejuvenating, recharging and grounding, but nothing beats a forest for filling and feeding your soul.
On Saturday morning, I woke up with a whisper in my head, "Morrow Bay!" I weighed the value of visiting a new place versus going back to my old favorite, Hendrey's Beach in Santa Barbara. New won. I mapped the fastest route for us, almost four hours versus two-and-a-half. Still, the whisper of Morrow Bay continued to ring in my ears.
I loaded up a change of clothes and booked a motel 6 in Morrow Bay, California for my dogs and me. It was far from a budget weekend, being so close to the ocean, but the destination was a perfect balance between San Louis Obispo and San Simeon and the Hearst Castle. There was plenty to see and do.

We arrived in Morrow Bay after almost four hours of driving. We drove around the bay and headed for a quiet dog-friendly beach. The temperatures on the coast were thirty degrees lower than at home in the Mojave Desert; the cool breeze was welcome.
On our way northward to Hearst Castle, we stopped for pie in the quaint, artsy town of Cambria, at Linn's. The home of the famous olallieberry pie. It was tasty, not too sweet, but the crust was lacking the crispy texture that I prefer. I give their pie a 3 out of 5
because of the crust. Kohnen's Bakery in Tehachapi has the best pie I have ever had from California to Colorado.
Only four miles further north on PCH 1 was a viewing spot for elephant seals. Both dogs were quite intrigued by the huge mammals sunning themselves on the beach. One huge bull tossed flipper after flipper full of sand over his blubbery body.

Seeing these basking sea creatures in person is an incredible and exciting sight. We arrived shortly after 5:00 PM. The sun was beginning to set which meant we had gorgeous views of the coastline after our visit with the elephant seals. The timing couldn't have been more perfect if I had planned it, which I didn't.
After an afternoon at the beach, a bath and a coastline drive, the dogs and I were pooped. After watching the sunset magnificently, we packed it in around 8:00 and headed for our motel.
Sunday morning was a cool 56 degrees; I had to put on a pair of jeans. The light windbreaker I brought with me wasn't enough for the morning ocean air. We headed south about twenty-five minutes
arriving in San Louis Obispo after watching the sun rise over the mountains on our way down through the passes. On our way back to Morrow Bay we found ourselves at a virtually unknown campground Cerro Alto in San Louis Obispo County just twenty minutes from Morrow Bay.

Entering the floor of the canyon surrounded by mountains on either side, the tree canopy welcomed us. Early in the morning, quiet except for the chattering of Jays, nuthatches, and tapping of woodpeckers the birds were undisturbed by our presence flitting and chattering among the tall branches. A dark brown bunny darted into the thicket on the side of the road as we approached. I had never seen a rabbit so brown in the wild.

The undergrowth and poison ivy tinged with pink and red, berries on the ends of limbs laden with food for the birds to overwinter. A muffled snort in the gully below us surprised both dogs. Their ears pricked up, as they stood stock still. I listened again for the rustling of leaves of branches breaking. A large buck snorted again and walked slowly into the thicket.
Mountain lions frequent the high mountains but visit campgrounds on occasion. We have to stay alert walking in nature, as it is the home of so many wild creatures. Part of the excitement of being in nature is that you never know what you will see or hear. Being awake and alert focused on the moment deepens your experience.

I love the beach. Trees bring a fulfillment that the beach cannot. We need a balance of both, water and wood to feed our soul. On this weekend I had the magic of both, and I am so grateful for all that I experienced. I returned home ready to be fully present and compassionate for my clients because I took care of my soul.

When Love Finds You

By Jennifer Elizabeth Masters
Have you ever noticed when we are looking for love, we don’t find it? Yet, when we are not looking, it magically finds us. The best love just happens. It’s almost as of it falls out of the sky.
When we step into the flow and trust, The Universe does all the work for you.
Each of us longs to love and be loved. Being in a loving relationship makes everything in our lives better. When we look for love we are coming from an empty place, rather than a place of fullness, or completeness. Like in the movie, Gerry, McGuire, we may be wanting someone to complete us. When we do, we are not happy with the result long-term, our joy isn’t dependent on anything outside of us.
I recently stepped into the flow and allowed the universe to bring love to me. What did it take? Trusting my guidance and listening. I haven’t been dating in months. Recently, I was directed to go to the beach, even though I had visited the previous week. I followed my intuition, trusting. I wondered in my head, should I go today? I
heard, “GO. You are going to meet someone!” “Today?” “YES!” I got the word and I still questioned it. Go figure!
I wrote my blog and began to prepare for the two-hour plus drive. Then I heard, “You might stay the night.” That was interesting, as I usually struggled to make the drive back home. I didn’t know anyone in Santa Barbara. I didn’t doubt my intuition.
There was no urgency to leave right away. I took my time packing up, finishing my blog. Traffic was heavy going through town due to an accident. Again, I felt calm, there was no rush. The drive took me over three hours. I found a parking spot near the beach without much of an issue and started walking. As my beach blanket began to slip from under my arm, a tall man with a dog asked it I needed some help. Before I even had a chance to answer, he was already taking my cooler and beach blanket from me. I was struck by his casual kindness. He offered his hand to me, which I gratefully accepted, as I slid down the bank, commenting on chivalry not being dead. It was so easy.

We walked down the beach talking effortlessly, I felt comfortable and unafraid. When we got to the perfect spot on the beach, he asked if he could join me? I could have said no to this stranger. It was clear this was the person I was to meet.
When The Universe does the work for you, there are many pleasant surprises. I had already done the work writing my list of 100, that I teach my clients to do, I knew what I wanted in a man. I am an animal lover. I knew I wanted someone who had a loving relationship with their dog. This man was walking his dog, Henry without a leash. Clearly there was mutual respect between them.
I wanted someone who loved to cook, take care of me, instead of the other way around. Someone who was close to my age, with grown children, tall, emotionally mature, fiscally responsible, secure, healthy, funny and knew who he was. I wanted a man, rather than a boy. I didn’t want to mother someone else. My children were all grown. I was ready to be appreciated and loved for me.
When I stopped to take my hat off, he looked intently at me, his sea blue eyes got wide and he told me how beautiful I was. He already appreciated who I was. I knew my guy would have blue eyes. We spent the afternoon together, talking, laughing and getting to know one-another. We shared stories, listening intently to the other. His children were grown. Henry his dog, was loved, respected and cherished.
After three hours, he told me he had a fresh piece of swordfish and bashfully asked me if he could cook dinner for me. I already knew the invite was coming. I felt safe. I replied, “I would be delighted.” I said a silent prayer of gratitude to the universe for bringing me someone so wonderful. The Universe will always find someone better for us than we could ever do for ourselves.
We spent that first evening laughing until the wee hours of the morning. I felt safe, cared for and revered. His sweet comment to me, “I have waited so long for you, I hope I don’t screw this up,” did not fall on deaf ears. Over time, if I made a request, it was filled without question. His extra firm mattress was replaced after only one comment, it hurt my hips. Within a week, he sent me a text with a photo of the pillow top mattress he bought, exactly what I wanted. He clearly wanted me with him and made it obvious.
I thought back to other relationships where men would not listen, or tell me I was beautiful, or make accommodations for my comfort. He recognized my value because I did. I knew who I was and he saw me clearly. Contrast allows us to recognize the beautiful gifts in the present moment.

As you are thinking about your beloved, step into the flow and let The Universe take control. I assure you that you will not be disappointed. I would love to hear your stories and questions. Please contact me at JenniferElizabethMasters@gmail.com.
I look forward to hearing from you soon. Allow me to partner with you to help you get out of your own way and find the love you so deserve! Helping others find love is only one of my superpowers and gifts! From India to the US, I have helped many find and keep the love they desire.

Manifesting The Perfect Parking Spot
By Jennifer Elizabeth Masters
After I thanked and smiled at 4 carloads of people, sending each group the energy of love silently, I drove around one more time. As I passed the beach front and slowly edged barely three spaces beyond that, I asked the 5th group were they were leaving? A young mother was helping her children into the car. She turned to me and said, "Yes." They were getting ready to head out. I smiled and said, "Thank you." Again placing my hands in prayer position and blessing them with love.
Jam packed parking at the beach
On a beautiful, clear, sunny Friday afternoon in Santa Barbara, I landed at Hendry's beach. The parking lots were packed with family vehicles loading and unloading. I had difficulty in the past finding a parking spot even in the overflow parking lot.
Today, I tried an experiment. Just as I made my first pass through the lot closest to the beach I asked the parking angels to assist me in finding a spot in the prime beachfront location. I was by myself, with two dogs, my beach blanket, and beach bag. I always carry water for my dogs, which can get heavy if you have to lug it very far. I did not want to have to park in the overflow lot, with all my gear.

I am happiest at the beach
As I drove past each person who looked as if they might be getting ready to leave, I asked them politely, "Are you getting ready to leave?" When the answer was, "No," I put my hands together in prayer position and thanked them, with a smile as I spoke, I told each one that I was hopeful. I silently sent each person love from my heart to theirs, then drove off slowly. The response I received in response to sending them positive, loving energy was just as positive as what I was sent them. People even joked with me in return.

I have been to Hendry's Beach, just outside of Santa Barbara, at least eight times. I have only been able to get a parking place in the first lot once during the winter months.

You just might make someone feel elated!
Not only was I elated that I got a spot so close to the beach, but I was delighted that I had the opportunity to bless each group of people with love. They were all very pleasant when they responded to me. I attributed their response and reaction to my positive energy and love flowing to them, rather than sending impatience or irritation, I sent them each love. What a difference!

A year later I have a different system, I just ask for the parking angels to find me a perfect parking spot and two open up within minutes. I always find a spot in the premiere location because I know I can.
Why not try this yourself the next time you arrive in a crowded lot. Instead of getting impatient trying to find a spot, ask the parking angels to go ahead of you and locate a spot for you . Smile and send love to each person you feel might be leaving. Just see what happens. I would love to hear your experiences below!
