12 Signs You May Be Depressed

By Jennifer Elizabeth Masters

Everyone experiences sadness from time-to-time. Depression is very different than sadness as it is more severe, usually accompanied by low self-esteem, loss of interest in activities that would normally be enjoyable, low energy and pain for no reason. Depression is characterized by dark or low moods for more than two weeks. Depression affects home, family, work and social functioning.

Women experience depression twice as often as men.

Many of us experience depression and are unaware of why we feel so bad. I experienced chronic depression for over twenty years without being diagnosed. My mother pooh-poohed that I was depressed because I functioned, though not very effectively in my life. I was irritable, reactive and even aggressive with others. I lost interest in sex, had insomnia I "managed my insomnia" with two capsules of Benadryl a night. I lived life in a fog of fatigue, illness, aches pains and memory loss.

What Causes Depression

The medical profession admits to not knowing where depression begins. From my personal perspective, I found that depression is due to a combination of unbalanced hormones, lack of serotonin and repressed anger that we are unable to express at an early age.

Sexual molestation, rape and not being loved, validated or confirmed by our parents in positive ways also contributes to depression. Divorce, break-ups and feeling unloved and lonely can also add to our burden of pain and suffering. Our thoughts become increasingly negative which impacts our stress levels adding to the downward spiral of emotions.

We are left holding a bag of deep-seated repressed resentment and anger from being a "good girl" or "good boy" for our parents.

The stored emotions begin to bubble up when they are unprocessed. Our body will begin to show signs of struggle with illnesses like diabetes, cancer or arthritis. The longer that our trapped emotions stay in our body, the more profound the depression and physical body pain becomes. PTSD is another form of suppressed emotion with a side of depression.

What The Medical Profession Says

The cause of depression is a combination of genetic, environmental and psychological factors. Approximately 40% of the risk for depression is related to genetics. Other factors such as major life changes, chronic illness, certain medications and substance abuse.

Cognitive behavior therapy and interpersonal therapy can help. Medications seem to work better in cases where severe depression is present. Taking medications without doing some form of therapy, energy work or healing will not cure the depression.

Medication and Affects:

Medication for depression is not a cure all. Medication places a band-aid over the issues and further suppresses the original cause - emotions that have not been experienced and expressed.

I was given Prozac for my depression and fell asleep at the wheel driving to work repeatedly. When I drove three exits past where I worked, I called my doctor that day and said, "I'm done with Prozac!" He informed me it was dangerous to go off the drug cold turkey. My response was, "Not as dangerous as driving three exits past my work without knowing how I got there." I never took another prescription for depression or anxiety (except an occasional antibiotic).

I cured myself through cognitive therapy and energy healing which I now do for my clients.
Signs of Depression:
  1. feeling listless and hopelessness
  2. insomnia
  3. fatigue
  4. negative thinking that you can't stop
  5. irritability
  6. increased aggressive behavior
  7. memory and recall issues
  8. pain without a reason
  9. loss of interest in life, social activities
  10. hearing voices in your head that aren't yours
  11. you might even feel a little crazy (and how I hate the expression "cray cray!"
  12. clutter in your car, home, closets and office
Given the peak onset of depression is 25 to 44 years of age, hormones play a significant role in depression in women.

Different Types of Depression

Yes, there are different types of depression from Pre-menstrual, Post Partum Depression, Perimenopause, Menopause, Bi-Polar and Borderline Personality Disorder.

What Can You Do?

Cognitive Therapy has been shown to work at least as well if not better than anti-depressants as it treats the root cause, rather than providing a band-aid that masks symptoms. The work I do with clients uses Cognitive Therapy in combination with energy clearing to lift the root cause or pattern, shift low-self-esteem and support you in feeling better about yourself and your life. The combination has remedied those with severe depression as well as those with suicidal tendencies

Jennifer has been an incredible force in my life since the day that I met her. She has done several clearings for me in the past, I knew she was the real deal and my intuition screamed to me, that she was the perfect person to help when my sister began to struggle with severe depression to the point of becoming suicidal.

A month had gone by and my sibling was like a shell of her former self. She was not eating, barely sleeping, and had not been able to work at all. I was able to convince her that an energy clearing would be beneficial for her.

Jennifer had just returned home from travel right before I contacted her, but she dropped everything to help us within 10 minutes of my reaching out to her. Jennifer had a ton of insight into my sisters' personality and the origins of her struggle, yet half-way through my sister felt she couldn't continue with the clearing, and instead Jennifer continued with me on the phone. Because of this I was a bit skeptical as to whether it would work for her, but I kid you not. Four days later I contacted my sister and she was at Disney with her kid, about to "get some lunch" I couldn't even believe it worked that effectively and within such a short period of time.

Since the clearing, my sister has returned to work and although things are not perfect she has returned to her normal, spunky, intelligent, funny, wise, self.
I thank Jennifer tremendously. She has a true gift, a huge kind heart, and has been an enormous blessing to myself and my family. I would highly recommend her services to anyone and everyone. She's that good!

3 Signs You're Not Getting Enough

By Jennifer Elizabeth Masters

Most people are not aware that they are dehydrated. When we are dehydrated, our brains don't function as well, our organs aren't able to dump toxins and we feel more tired. What most people are unaware of is how drinking fresh clean water, at room temperature helps sexual function.

For women, without enough water, vaginal lubrication can be difficult. Without natural lubrication, sex can be painful. Water keeps our mouth fresh, our bodies from becoming toxic, and helps combat fatigue between the sheets.

Caffeine beverages dehydrate the body. Each soda we consume means we are putting our body in a deficit. With continued and long-term dehydration skin becomes lack lustre, our eyes don't work as well and we feel intensely fatigued. Most people don't even recognize their craving for water. As over time, thirst, which is a natural sign to drink more water is replaced with feelings of hunger. Many people eat when what their body really needs is water.

The more vigorous your bedroom workout is, the more water you will need. When we sweat, cry or ejaculate, water is needed to replace precious fluids lost. Depending on whether you have been in a deficit for a longer or short time, changes your symptoms.

Following are signs of dehydration - okay there are more than 3:

  1. Headache. This one is often misconstrued and many reach for a pain reliever instead of several big glasses of water. You might experience this early in the day, or even when you wake up. Have a big glass of water BEFORE your coffee, which will dehydrate you even more.
  2. Dry mouth
  3. Fatigue
  4. Flushed face
  5. Constipation
  6. Nausea
  7. Aggravation and depression
  8. Deep golden urine, which can sometimes be malodorous
  9. Chapped lips. The ones on your face, not elsewhere, silly!

The key is to drink water daily. How much? At least 8 - eight ounce glasses of room temperature water. Putting ice in your water, causes your body to have to heat it up to 98 degrees and can cause your body shock, weakening the immune system. Remember how being in cold temperatures can cause you to come down with a virus, ice cold water is like subjecting your body to ice cold outdoor temperatures, every time you consume it. Room temperature water is always best.

The Most Vital Ingredient For Great Sex

By Jennifer Elizabeth Masters

Men and women need it. Without it we feel fatigue, listless and may have headaches. We age prematurely, have body aches ad poor elimination. Our bones and organs malfunction and we won't produce natural lubrication required for great sex. Our brains will have difficulty functioning, we lose focus, and can feel poorly. A lagging libido for men can result due to lack of this one thing. Depression and anger can result when we are missing this one important je ne sais quoi? Only being deficient 1% of this one vital ingredient can cause you serious issues, impacting our mood energy levels and sense of well-being.

WHAT IS IT?

One of the issues is that many are consuming it without thinking about the quality. Unless the quality is good and the PH is correct, any old one will not do. The one vital thing most people do not get enough of for optimum health, brain, sex and organ function is ...........   WATER!

Fluoride contaminants, and other toxic chemicals in regular tap water will short circuit any benefit. Drinking pure, alkaline water is key. Most water has a high acidity which the body cannot use efficiently. Alkaline water can help cure cancer, body aches and other issues.

For healthy sexual function, physical vigor and sexual function being well hydrated is very important. Most people 45 and older are extremely dehydrated due to years of not drinking enough good quality water.

Thirst

Many people are so dehydrated that they don't even recognize the signals for thirst. They often feel hunger, when it is actually thirst. If you sweat, drink coffee, or other caffeinated beverages you need more than most people.

Energy Drinks

Energy drinks contain artificial caffeine which is worse than drinking coffee and tea. All of these act as a diuretics. Meaning that they quickly drain fluids from your cells. Many people who consume a lot of coffee, tea or energy drinks have cellulite, due to caffeine consumption.

Pure Water

A home filter that removes toxic chemicals and fluoride is best. You will find it cheaper than buying water in plastic bottles. Most water purchased is not pure either. Do your own research and make sure your water is clean, without fluoride.

Fluoride

Studies have been done recently because the United States was slow to step up and come clean with the reason for fluoridating water. It had nothing to do with dental decay. The countries that no longer have fluoridated water have no increase in dental cavities as a result. Fluoride reduces brain IQ in children. If it reduces brain IQ in children - does that mean it doesn't in adults? It was used to dumb down the population so that we would swallow their BS about the REAL ISSUES.

Coconut Water

Cold processed coconut water is an excellent replacement for water. It contains electrolytes and minerals lost through dehydration. Costco, Whole Foods and other health food stores carry this beverage. The cold processed one is best. When coconuts are heated to extract the juice much of the health benefits are lost.

Sexual Lubrication and Function

When we are dehydrated our bodies do not lubricate sufficiently for comfortable sex play. Make sure you are getting enough water daily. Headaches, crankiness and fatigue will result when you are dehydrated. Most of us walk around down a quart. We put oil in our cars, but forget we need sufficient water for optimum levels of energy, mood and physical health.

You will find your partner is much more interested when they are hydrated. Be sure to drink a full glass of water upon rising. A squirt from a fresh lemon wedge will alkalize the water for you naturally.

People often ask me about lemon, saying that it is acidic, rather than alkaline. Outside of the body lemon is acidic. Once inside the body it becomes alkaline. Like magic for us!

Brain Function

When we are dehydrated our brains don't function well. We might have issues with anger and depression. We may have difficulty thinking, focusing and feeling well. Prolonged dehydration will cause us to age quickly, hair loss and wrinkling of the skin.

Water is a very simple fix. Remember if you have been dehydrated for years, one glass will not do it. Our bodies need water when we wake up - before food. We have been sleeping for seven or more hours without drinking. Having coffee before anything else, further dehydrates your body. Have a big glass of water first instead. Or maybe two. You will find you have more energy, your mood is better and your sex life will improve as well.

Water is the one thing we can't live without. Water can sustain life for weeks without food. It is a very important ingredient. Are you getting your fair share?
