Do You Complain and Wonder Why You Aren't Happy?
By Jennifer Elizabeth Masters
It is interesting that we are living in the 21st Century with the highest level of technology yet so many people are depressed and unhappy. If you wonder why you are so unhappy with your life, perhaps you are like my daughter. Maybe you are angry that things didn't go the way you planned. Maybe just maybe you feel that your life sucks.
The following is a true story.
Whether you want love, success or money, there is one big SECRET to having what you desire.
It isn't luck.
It isn't being born with a silver spoon in your mouth.
The way to have everything you want is governed by
ONE THING.
In my life, I have manifested houses, cars, love, marriage, and even a special baby girl when I was told I couldn't have any more children. I have manifested places to stay for free in one of the most sought after vacation spots in the United States. I have manifested trips to Bali Indonesia out of thin air. Each year, my income has doubled, and I am grateful to my clients for all that they have given to me.
Gratitude is what keeps the energy flowing and the good on its way to you. JEM
If you complain about your spouse or partner, you will lose the love you have. Complaining about your spouse leads to divorce. For each one negative comment you make to your partner, it takes ten positive comments to make up for the negative. Instead, bless your spouse. Count the blessings you have and all their wonderful qualities.
Only when we have loving thoughts do we receive and feel love. JEM
If you complain, bitch, or moan about your job you will not give your all and might end up being fired, or being made redundant.
If you complain about your home, you might lose that too.
Complaining is one of the most derisive things that we can do. Complaining illustrates a lack. Complaining brings more negative circumstances to you faster than anything. Complaining ruins luck. Complaining steals your magic.
Sure, it's easy to complain. Each of us has plenty to complain about. When we complain though the lack that we are experiencing is GRATITUDE.
Without gratitude, we are missing the magic sauce. Gratitude is the one thing that will bring you love, when you have none. Gratitude will have a client or check show up when you need it most. Gratitude creates magic in all areas of our lives.
Gratitude will turn your negativity into love. JEM

Ariel with her father, Rich
I'll share a personal story with you to illustrate my point. If you have been following me for a while, you already know that my ex-husband died in 2012. Yes, I predicted his death and wasn't the least bit happy when it happened. Since Rich left the planet, my daughter who is now twenty, has been experiencing a great deal of anger. She is outraged that her father died.
While she has been angry that her father died and angry that I said negative things about him before I woke up, I have been supporting her, helping her wherever I could. I paid phone bills, bought her clothes and paid rent when she didn't have the money for it. I drove up to North Dakota to retrieve Rich's belongings and drive his Ford F 150 pickup back for my daughter to have.
During the time, she drove her father's truck, all she did was complain about how much it cost to fill the truck up and not being able to drive in the snow. She couldn't afford to drive the truck was
her common refrain. Last year, while in Colorado, I manifested a car for her, exactly what she wanted. You guessed it, she complained about that car too.
She complained about not being able to drive in the snow. She needed snow tires. My comment here is that I drove for a year in Colorado weather without snow tires in my little Honda and made it through the winter just fine.
While I was visiting a client in Denver this past December, he gave me two snow tires as a Christmas gift and offered to install them on my car. I was very grateful to him for the lovely gift and asked if he wouldn't mind giving them to my daughter instead. I had just purchased two all weather tires for my car and felt very comfortable with them.
Almost every time I spoke to Ariel she mentioned how her car really needed snow tires. I felt my daughter really needed them more than I did. He kindly allowed me to retrieve my daughter's car and the following day he installed the snow tires on her Toyota. I felt sure Ariel would be pleased that she finally got what she wanted.
Within a week of receiving the tires, she got a flat. She called me looking for help on the side of the road nearly in hysterics. She didn't know what to do as she was on her break from work. I was in Denver at the time, but too far to help her get to a tire store. She reminded me that this was her fourth flat tire in a year.
Our car is symbolic of our physical body. Tires are symbolic of our feet. She asked me why she has had so many flat tires. I remarked carefully that Source lets us know when we haven't learned our lesson because we keep repeating it, kind of like in the movie with Bill Murray, Ground Hog Day.
The fact that Ariel had four flat tires was because she was being shown she was on the wrong path. She was either working in the wrong line of work, or in the wrong relationship. Her focus was not on gratitude for what she had, but rather stress and worry about what she didn't have.
Where we walk is indicative of our journey. If we continue to walk in a direction that doesn't support our soul's journey, we will find all kinds of evidence; hence the four flat tires.
Ariel was given a truck for free that she complained about. I managed to get her a car - that she didn't have to pay for and all she did was complain about it. My darling daughter wasn't expressing gratitude for what she was given. She was complaining instead. Her
gifts were taken from her in some ways. The car wasn't driveable. More money had to be spent to make it driveable. Even when she was given the very thing she asked for - SNOW TIRES, she complained. The gift was taken away - with a flat tire.
If you have a relationship and all you do is complain about him or her, your love will be taken away.
If you want a relationship and all you do is complain about not having one, you won't find love.
If you complain about your job, clients or work you will find that you won't give your all, to your work, your negative complaining attitude will cause more negative circumstances like flat tires and problems, your income will diminish or shrink or completely disappear because you aren't grateful for what you have.
Everything that we have is a gift. Our health is a gift. Our life is a gift. If you complain about your body, your face, your weight you are not grateful for your life or health. Complaining about your body and health will decrease your vitality. People who are grateful live seven years longer than people who are not.
The SECRET SAUCE is Gratitude.
Gratitude is what keeps the energy flowing and the good on its way to you. JEM
Only when we have loving thoughts do we receive and feel love. JEM
Without gratitude, we are missing the magic sauce. Gratitude is the one thing that will bring you love, when you have none. Gratitude will have a client or check show up when you need it most. Gratitude creates magic in all areas of our lives.

Why You Shouldn't Do Cartwheels To Keep Someone
By Jennifer Elizabeth Masters
In my love and happiness coaching, I see all kinds of behavior where women will do anything to try and keep a guy that is clearly not worthy and often not interested. I have done it in the past myself. When we attempt to manipulate, change, and hang onto someone by changing who we are or explaining bad behavior away there is no possible way this relationship can work.
Attempting to hang onto someone who is walking away makes you needy, clingy and very unattractive. Confidence is infinitely more attractive to a partner than neediness. A relationship will never work if you have the attitude that you will do whatever it takes to change yourself to keep another person. Being inauthentic will make you very unhappy and will destroy the relationship.
When someone shows you who they are, believe them! ~Maya Angelou
You Might Be Doing Cartwheels To Keep Them If:
- Thinking that if or when he gets off drugs or alcohol things will be better is putting your happiness on the backburner. You can't make anyone want to give up their addiction. You may be addicted to love.
- You think your love will cure whatever is ailing the other; it never will.
- Explaining away bad behavior away is disrespectful to yourself. Love yourself enough to let someone who treats you badly go.
- You wish for things to be different. If you have thoughts like, "if only..... he would......" let him go. (This is true unless you have extremely high expectations of your relationship and partner.) Perfectionistic people tend to expect their partner to be perfect and no one is. We all have issues and faults. No relationship will ever be totally free of conflict. We are individuals with our own personalities and ways of doing things. No two people will be exactly the same. We have to allow each other to be true to ourselves.
- You don't talk about what is bothering you. If you allow someone to treat you like a doormat walk all over your feelings, expect you to do everything to keep the relationship working without communicating your needs means you are doing cartwheels to keep them. Work on your self-esteem so that you stop allowing others to mistreat you. Until you do work on yourself you will continue to attract bad behavior because you allow yourself to be mistreated.
- You are a people pleaser. When you turn yourself inside out doing cartwheels to please someone else you will be unhappy with the outcome. You put your personal needs ahead of the relationship and the other person, which subjugates your happiness.
- Expect the other person to make you happy. Another person can't fill the void within you. Looking for someone else to make you happy places too much responsibility on the other person and is an impossible no-win situation.
If your partner has been disrespectful, hurtful, cheated, lied or just become indifferent to you and who you are, let him go. If they have an anger issue, addictions or are disrespectful to you, it is time to get some help. Self-love and self-respect are imperative for a healthy, balanced and happy relationship.

What is it about holidays that make everyone want to go home to visit? Once there, we wonder what ever possessed us to spend all that money on airfare or gas to listen to our parents' and siblings tell us all the things that we are doing wrong and how we need to live our lives differently. But that is family. They are the ones that know exactly how to push our buttons and get our goat.
Sadly, many of us will be alone for the holidays. Children may be stateside when you are deployed. Or your family may be in a foreign country and too far to visit during this time of year. For many of us, the holidays are a time when we experience depression, loneliness and sadness - even when with family. How then can we navigate Thanksgiving, Chanukah, Christmas or Kwanza without our loved ones and still enjoy ourselves?
Making The Best Of The Situation
Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday for many reasons. Thanksgiving involves gratitude which I love. It also does not involve gift giving - so there is not a lot of financial stress over Thanksgiving, which is amazing. Thanksgiving involves cooking, eating and watching movies for me. The smell of a roasting turkey with stuffing in the oven, pies, whipped cream..... it all makes my mouth water. Until I remember that my family is all going to be spread apart this Thanksgiving. However, planning and intent can change a situation that might end up being something really wonderful.
Days Of Holidays Past
I reminisce about Thanksgiving in Canada with my family. As soon as dinner was over the women would go and clear the table, getting coffee and dessert out. My oldest brother would disappear and fall asleep in someone's bed. He often over-eat, like Goldilocks find someone's soft bed to roll onto. He would go into a semi-coma after a big meal. I miss those days. It has been a long time since I enjoyed Thanksgiving in Canada with my family of origin.
A new Hartman Group study reveals that 46% of all adults eat alone. This growing trend shows a move towards a more solitary environment. One good thing about eating alone is that you won't get heartburn about what your mother, brother, sisters or brothers say to you over your meal. A peaceful candelight dinner for one can be enjoyable. Thanksgiving though, is another story.
Traditional Thanksgiving Dinners
Buying a frozen dinner hoping it will substitute for a home-cooked meal will not thrill you. Even dining out alone in a restaurant doesn't sound exhilarating either. Here are some solutions for McDonalds, Jack In The Box and Taco Bell, Thanksgiving meals.
- Find a local church that is doing a community dinner and join them.
- Volunteer at a homeless shelter and bring a cooked turkey to add to the feast. This way, your home still smells like turkey and you will be contributing towards feeding the hungry. So it is a win-win for both sides.
- Ask around in advance where your assistance could be needed at a church shelter or senior center. Warm bodies are always appreciated to serve with a smile. Helping out serves two purposes, you recognize what you have and you appreciate your life so much more. Giving back always makes you feel good!
- Plan in advance so that you are not spending the whole day alone. Find a group to play games with or go for a walk with later in the day.
- Take a spa vacation for two days. Pamper yourself by staying at a Hyatt or other plush hotel and treat yourself royally.
- Play Christmas music that makes you feel good.
- Write Christmas cards and Thanksgiving cards and send them early to the ones you love. This old fashioned tradition is a lost art and will make you think of each person you won't see with a fondness. Put your heart into your message. Don't just sign your name.
- Call those you miss and tell them you love them.
- Watch movies that make you feel good. The happier the better. Laughter is good for the soul. Which is why I always watch National Lampoon Christmas Vacation every year, more than once.
- Avoid drinking as it is a depressant.
- Buy some scented candles to make your home or apartment smell festive.
- Do things that you love and make you feel good. Treat yourself to special foods that you wouldn't normally cook. Like roasting a duck, or brussel sprouts.... something you really like.
Suggested Mirth in Movies
There are some really great holiday movies out that I recommend. Some are better than others and the ones I love best make me laugh and feel warm inside. These are the type I recommend for you.
- National Lampoon Christmas Vacation - my family's favorite stupid Christmas movie. We watch it every year. It is a classic. A lot of laughs and Chevy Chase at his creative best.
- Home For The Holidays. (1995) With Holly Hunter, Dylan McDermott, Anne Bancroft (full movie below)
- The Holiday. With Cameron Diaz, Jude Law, Kate Winslet, Jack Black. Even if you don't like Jack Black, this movie has many redeeming qualities, like the fact that it is set in the most beautiful part of England and LA. Yes, it involves love. A chick flick, but funny and sweet at the same time.
- Planes, Trains and Automobiles. Steve Martin and Beloved Canadian actor, John Candy. This movie is hilarious and heart warming.
- Scrooge. Bill Murray.
- The Santa Clause. Tim Allen. Although this could be construed as a kids movie, it is a happy, feel good movie. The kind you want to watch when you are all alone.
- Dutch. Ed O'Neill. Thanksgiving movie. Ok. You might want to kill the kid at some point in the movie, but it gets better.
- The Family Man. Nicolas Cage, Tea Leoni. Wealthy Wall Street trader, living the high life. His life is changed totally over night when he wakes up in suburbia married to his old girlfriend - with children. Great lessons, love over money. Happiness over the material. Funny, heartwarming.
- Holiday Inn. Bing Crosby. Yes, it's old, but it's a feel good real Christmas movie.
- How The Grinch Stole Christmas. Jim Carrey.
- Elf. Yes, it stars Will Ferrell, but wonderful warm and heart opening ending. Ed Asner plays Santa - well.
- A Charlie Brown Christmas. Sweet and a tradition.
- Home Alone. I couldn't leave this one off.
