Is It Possible To Have An Orgasm For Life?

By Jennifer Elizabeth Masters

There are some things that can't be reproduced. We have a good time one minute and when we attempt to repeat it, well, it just doesn't come close. I have done many radio interviews, and some just can't be replicated. Following is one of them, with Linzi Levinson on my old network, Voice America.

Sex is better when we are deeply connected on a soul level with our partner. Once we have built trust with our partner we can let go, unleashing our passion at the deepest level. Sex without passion is like taking a bath in someone else's bath water. It's yucky, and it doesn't do what it's meant to.

Why You Shouldn't Do Cartwheels To Keep Someone

By Jennifer Elizabeth Masters

In my love and happiness coaching, I see all kinds of behavior where women will do anything to try and keep a guy that is clearly not worthy and often not interested. I have done it in the past myself. When we attempt to manipulate, change, and hang onto someone by changing who we are or explaining bad behavior away there is no possible way this relationship can work.

Attempting to hang onto someone who is walking away makes you needy, clingy and very unattractive.  Confidence is infinitely more attractive to a partner than neediness. A relationship will never work if you have the attitude that you will do whatever it takes to change yourself to keep another person. Being inauthentic will make you very unhappy and will destroy the relationship.

When someone shows you who they are, believe them! ~Maya Angelou

You Might Be Doing Cartwheels To Keep Them If:

  1. Thinking that if or when he gets off drugs or alcohol things will be better is putting your happiness on the backburner. You can't make anyone want to give up their addiction. You may be addicted to love.
  2. You think your love will cure whatever is ailing the other; it never will.
  3. Explaining away bad behavior away is disrespectful to yourself. Love yourself enough to let someone who treats you badly go.
  4. You wish for things to be different. If you have thoughts like, "if only.....  he would......" let him go. (This is true unless you have extremely high expectations of your relationship and partner.) Perfectionistic people tend to expect their partner to be perfect and no one is. We all have issues and faults. No relationship will ever be totally free of conflict. We are individuals with our own personalities and ways of doing things. No two people will be exactly the same. We have to allow each other to be true to ourselves.
  5. You don't talk about what is bothering you. If you allow someone to treat you like a doormat walk all over your feelings, expect you to do everything to keep the relationship working without communicating your needs means you are doing cartwheels to keep them. Work on your self-esteem so that you stop allowing others to mistreat you. Until you do work on yourself you will continue to attract bad behavior because you allow yourself to be mistreated.
  6. You are a people pleaser. When you turn yourself inside out doing cartwheels to please someone else you will be unhappy with the outcome. You put your personal needs ahead of the relationship and the other person, which subjugates your happiness.
  7. Expect the other person to make you happy. Another person can't fill the void within you. Looking for someone else to make you happy places too much responsibility on the other person and is an impossible no-win situation.

If your partner has been disrespectful, hurtful, cheated, lied or just become indifferent to you and who you are, let him go. If they have an anger issue, addictions or are disrespectful to you, it is time to get some help. Self-love and self-respect are imperative for a healthy, balanced and happy relationship.

The Spirituality Bonded Intimacy

By Jennifer Elizabeth Masters

Some people have sworn off relationships for the rest of their lives preferring the quiet solitude of singledom. Though this is a personal choice, being in a relationship is how we grow and reach our highest evolution. We learn more about ourselves when we are in a relationship than when we are alone.

As humans, we are sexual beings. As time goes by sex becomes less important for some, however, touch and intimacy can remain even when sex becomes an impossibility due to health or physical constraints. Other couples continue having wonderful sexual experiences, snuggling blissfully afterward until they die. Having someone to grow old with and spend our days with can help to lift us up when the burdens of life become a challenge. A spiritually bonded intimacy is what I help people achieve.

Why You Don't Want To Avoid Relationships

Humans were meant to be coupled. Even when we are beyond our child rearing years having someone to enjoy companionship with offers a different perspective from our own. A partner will not think the same way we do. Our purpose on this planet is to grow and evolve. We have the most growth when we are in a bonded relationship. Committing to grow and evolve together needs to be part of your commitment to one another.

The Benefits of Spiritually Bonded Relationship

We have to know ourselves well to discover what we want and don't want in a relationship. Most people don't dive deep into this subject unless questioned. When we are deeply spiritual we need, to express our need for solitude, meditation, quiet and persuit of complete enlightenment and focus on growth with a person early in the dating process. If we cast our net into the dating pool looking for anyone, rather than someone specific, we get what we get.

In a spiritually bonded intimate relationship, there is no competition, we focus on each other's wonderful traits and recognize that we are human with frailties. We feel connected, rather than competitive, we are able to risk being authentically ourselves, able to express anger, let it go and forgive.

We express ourselves rather than suppress. We expand rather than make ourselves small. We never take each other for granted. We live fully, playfully in the present moment creating magic each day, letting go of the illusion. Relationships aren't fairy tales, but they can be enlivening, supporting and certainly happy when we allow ourselves to express our truth compassionately and lovingly.

Maybe You Feel You Don't Choose Well

In the past, you might not have chosen well, in your mind. Maybe however, you stayed with someone you should have only received the lesson from. I know I married someone that was hiding skeletons in their closet. I should have called off the wedding when I found out he was an alcoholic three weeks before, but I was too concerned about what people would think at the time. The alcoholism, was the tip of the iceberg of skeletons. His closet was full of because he was still in it.

I have used what I have learned during my lifetime, to present a course that will shift the way you view relationships. If you feel your picker is broken, I give you all the tools you need to notice, raise your awareness and wake you up to the red flags you ignored in the past. I teach you how differently men and women view relationships. You will learn what makes a man stay and what makes a man leave.

I created this class because I saw a need for clarity in the minds of women around attracting their life partner. I know many women have come to know themselves and are wondering why they haven't attracted their match.

My very first class, of a series of six - which you can pay as you go at $44.00 per session (way less than an hour session with a therapist) you gain immediate insight from a list of RED FLAG questions and gain understanding the differences between the way men and women view relationships. Both of these will open your eyes and change the way you look at a potential date forever.

This class will empower you in ways you didn't think possible. You will create a new NOW for yourself based on the clarity you will derive from this insightful weekly series. You will gain powerful understanding of past relationships when I help you recognize what you missed early on.

From Tainted To True Love is potent and changes will happen immediately because shifts occur based on the information I provide. I also offer a clearing of beliefs, blocks, self-sabotaging programs before the end of each call that helps you begin in a new whole way!

Each class is recorded and you will have access to this recording to refer back to again and again. The first class is available for you
now. (The first class on Red Flags is recorded for you already!)

Join us this Wednesday at 6:00 PM PST for our second class where we delve into:

  • changing beliefs that keep you from attracting love
  • discover the many ways we push love away
  • recognize the longing your soul has for deep spiritually bonded intimacy and how to achieve it
  • mantras to shift your unconscious mind
  • begin attracting men after the first class - evidence that this works! (Proven from my participants!)
  • get laser focused on what you want, so you attract it
  • a powerful manifesting exercise to attract your Divine partner quickly
  • clearings each week of fears, blocks, and beliefs that keep you from attracting love

I Want To Know What Love Is

By Jennifer Elizabeth Masters

For so many people today, heartache and pain are what they think of when they think of love. Why is that? Why do relationships cause us such issues? We want to be loved, or do we? Sometimes I wonder because I see people pushing love away. Our fear of being hurt causes us to push the very thing we desire away. I have done it too.

When we have traumatic experiences in our past, and everybody does, we hold the energy of the past in our cellular body. The emotions from the breakups, nasty divorces, and horrible dates in our tissues. Until we can let go completely and forgive those who we perceive have hurt us we really can't experience love because we have a wall built which keep us from allowing a new person close to us.

We can't be vulnerable and risk everything when we experience fear. Fear blocks us from letting go, and able to receive love.

I know from my past experience that I wasn't authentic for most of my life. I acted like I thought others wanted me to be. I faked it. I faked orgasms; I faked happiness, I faked being. When I finally let go of caring what others thought of me is when I recognized I liked myself and it didn't matter what anyone else thought. My self-esteem came from me, not from the validation I had previously desired from my mother or others.

Healing our past allows us to become completely naked in front of another. The naked I am talking about is the ability to be completely vulnerable and seen by our partner, naked with our clothes. Most people wear a mask and don't allow someone new to see the real person under the subterfuge. Our fear of not being accepted for who we are keeps us acting the way we think our date wants us to be.

When we aren't authentic at the beginning of a relationship, our relationship is doomed to failure because eventually, we have to let our guard down and be real. When we finally show up, our partner will wonder who the heck they fell in love with? Authenticity is the key to feeling and receiving love. Until we can be real with another, we are faking life and not going to receive real love.
Softening And Becoming Real

The softer and more authentic we can be, the better. Our relationships build trust when we are authentic. The fear of not being liked or loved is from the past. When we love ourselves, the experience of receiving love from another isn't so scary.

Letting go of the false pretenses and faked orgasms allow us to sink in to be grounded in our true self. If someone doesn't like who we are - NEXT! There will be someone who does. Don't waste your precious energy trying to be someone you aren't to be loved. If you have to turn yourself into a pretzel to find love, it isn't real. The more you that you can be, the more real your relationship will be also. All relationships have some conflict.

We aren't going to always agree with one another. Thinking that love means a relationship without conflict is a fairy tale. Knowing how to communicate lovingly when those challenges arise is one of the facets of my work. I help couples navigate the sticky situations and complexities of relationships. Being fearless certainly helps, and that is certainly something I help my clients be.

Dumbing It Down

When we act less intelligent, or less sexual than we are, we are attempting to dumb down the truth of ourselves. We are faking it. I faked it with one of my husbands. He was insecure about himself and his sexuality. He wasn't ready for a woman who was passionate, and powerful. I had to hold back and act like a Puritan. He was a macho man who had to be in charge. We didn't click at all. Our marriage was volatile because of the constant power struggle.

Afraid To Be Alone?

Many fish in the sea!

There are other options than to attempt to be someone you are not just to try and make this relationship work. When we let go of one relationship and allow ourselves to be seen, it won't be long before a new love comes along that takes you to a higher place where you can connect to the depth of your soul. There are lots of fish in the sea. Find the right fish for you. Don't settle for less. You deserve love. You deserve to be loved for who you are, as you are. Of course, the flip side of the coin is that we have to accept our partner as they are as well.

How To Get Them To Commit

By Jennifer Elizabeth Masters

If you have a history of attracting people who will only go so far with you, it is time, to be honest with yourself. It isn't them; it's you. Our relationships are the best mirror into our soul. We attract what we are.

Our relationships are the fastest way to discover if we have committed to ourselves. Before you cut me off and go to another blog, hear me out. I have had personal experience with this subject. I have been married and divorced four times for good reason. I had a lot to learn about myself. Once I totally committed to myself, I began to attract men who would also commit to me. Healing our past is part of our commitment to ourselves.

There are many ways to commit to ourselves. We can commit to our health, eating healthy foods, steering clear of those things that aren't good for us. It is easy to see where we aren't committed to our health, all we have to do is look at our physical body, our hair, nails, and how we feel. Taking responsibility for health is certainly a very positive way to commit.

Ask yourself the following questions:

  1. Am I as happy alone as I am partnered?
  2. Do I seek a relationship to fill me up and complete me?
  3. Am I looking for someone to fill a gap that I feel within?
  4. Do I give too much to others, ignoring my needs?
  5. Do I put others before my needs and self-care?
  6. Do I forgo meditation and spiritual practice when partnered?
  7. Do I continue to exercise when I am in a relationship?
  8. Am I honest always? Or do you spend time in denial of issues?
  9. Am I consistently on time?
  10. Am I true to my word?
  11. Am I authentic?
  12. Do I spend time with people who support me emotionally, mentally and spiritually?
  13. Do I spend time nurturing my soul daily?
  14. Do I exercise daily?
  15. Do I respect myself?
  16. Do I have judgment toward myself and others?
  17. Do I love myself - even all my flaws and faults?
  18. Do I worry about what others think of me?
  19. Is my home neat, tidy, orderly?
  20. Do I get to bed early?
  21. Have I healed my addictions - even my addictions to my recovery method?
  22. Am I fiscally responsible? Do I pay my bills on time?
  23. Am I looking for someone to rescue me from my life?
  24. Do I accept disrespect and abusive treatment from my partner and others?
  25. Am I abusive to myself in any way?
  26. Do I allow others to behave badly and still want to be with them?
  27. Am I controlling?
  28. Am I fearful?
  29. Do you know yourself well enough to know what you want and won't tolerate?

When we accept poor treatment from another person, we don't respect ourselves. Self respect is a hard thing to recognize as missing. I didn't see it until it was pointed out to me years ago. I was told by my then husband, "I don't respect you because you don't respect yourself!" It was a hard thing to hear. Since that time, I have worked diligently to avoid those who mistreat or don't respect me. I stand up for myself and expect to be treated with respect and will accept nothing less. I am not a bitch about it, I just walk away from those who blame, abuse or treat me badly.

If your date says they will call on a certain day and don't their actions don't match their words and they can't be trusted. When you stop accepting bad behavior, you will find people will either stand up and improve their character, or someone else will cross your path that is far better than the person you thought you couldn't live without.

Our outer relationships are the key to what we need to work on personally. You can blame others till the cows come home, but that won't get you where you want to go. Look inside you and hire
someone that has healthy self-esteem and is perfectly happy alone or partnered that can help you find the love you desire. You have to give to yourself before anyone returns it to you.

Commitment to you has to happen before someone will commit and be faithful to you. How long will you wait to commit to your healing

Client Testimonials:
After working with Jennifer recently, I must say that I am grateful to the Divine for placing her in my path via a Google search. A few weeks ago, I was in an interesting place emotionally. I was in-between coming to terms with some past emotional trauma but not fully understanding what it meant to "let go of my past." Following our initial 30 minute "discovery session" and subsequent first session a week later, I finally understood what it meant to embrace the present while letting the past be whatever it was.

As she opened my Akashic record and began to peel back the layers of my current and past lives, I shook, trembled, and buzzed as Jennifer cut the cords to the negative emotional patterns that had affected me on a personal, physical, emotional, and spiritual basis. The guilt, shame, and depression I experienced for years immediately left and I felt lighter! It was as if life had finally smiled at me and the Universe had finally said, "it's time for your healing. Embrace it and finally, learn to live life and enjoy it!"

I'm truly grateful for Jennifer's work, and I know that this is the beginning of something beautiful in my life. Thanks again, Jennifer, and I send you much love and many blessings!

Sincerely,
Mary

How To Lovingly Let Someone Go Regardless of The Future

By Jennifer Elizabeth Masters

There is no easy way out when it comes time to ending a relationship. Following these steps will help you sever ties without destroying each other.

The only person we can change is ourselves. JEM

If one person is unhappy in a relationship, the other will be also. If you are feeling you are heading in different directions or your core values are no longer in alignment having a conversation is imperative. Putting off a conversation delays the inevitable. To be certain that you are at the end of the relationship road, ask yourself the following questions:

  • Do we have different values?
  • Can you see a future with him or her?
  • Can you get excited about marrying this person?
  • Do you still have fun with this person?
  • Are you interested in making plans with them?
  • Do you fantasize about another person?
  • Has your partner become a stranger?
1. Be courageous and meet in person. Avoiding your partner or ignoring their calls is the easy way, but isn't respectful. Ignoring the other person isn't kind. You have to have a face-to-face conversation. Let them know you need to talk about an important issue in person. If you are afraid of your partner lashing out, have the conversation over the phone.

2. Meet in a quiet public place. A coffee shop, quiet restaurant, or park would work unless distance makes an in-person conversation impossible. Think about how you would feel if it were you on the receiving end. Where would you feel safe?

3. Be honest about your feelings. Lying about the reasons you want to end your relationship doesn't serve either of you. Are you moving forward together or in opposite directions? Honesty helps the other person understand and allows them the opportunity to have clarity. If you don't want to have further contact or be friends, don't lie to soften the blow.

4. Explain without blame. Throwing accusations at the other person isn't loving. Use, "I feel" statements explaining how you feel. Avoid using blanket statements about the past. Telling someone that they "never did" or "always forgot" will leave the other person feeling angry.

5. Discuss any problems or issues no matter how small. Give your partner the respect of understanding what went wrong and how it affects you for the future.

6. Be kind and compassionate. Breakups are difficult for both parties. There is no need to lob insults, call each other names, be angry or unkind. Tell your partner what you have enjoyed about them and what they did well.

7. Give each other time to process. Avoid texting and calling each other to help soften the blow. What you both need now is time to tap in and feel. Constant texting and phone calls muddy the waters and give the wrong impression. Allow yourselves time to see if there is any chance of resolving the differences before you rush into a conversation. Allow a clean break by having what I call radio silence - no contact at least for three days. Sleep on your decision and see how you feel.

8. Return Belongings. Rather than leaving clothes, devices or toiletries hanging in the balance return them to help give closure. We have to let go of the past to allow love to flow.

9. Sometimes a breakup is our biggest wake-up call. We all have issues. If we continue to stay in a relationship where we aren't happy we aren't being true to ourselves. A breakup could be what you both need to see what you really want and allow the future to unfold in a clean way. If there is a chance of reconciliation, don't go back just to feel secure, or to have someone. Promises of change need to have physical proof of work and changes being made, rather than just words. Watch to see if actions match the promises.

10. Avoid farewell sex. There is no point in having physical contact other than a hug or kiss goodbye. Having sex only brings the two of you together strengthening the ties rather than severing them.

Why Relationships Fail

You may eventually be able to have a friendship with this person. However, don't expect your romantic relationship to automatically become friendly. You both need time to heal. It may take years before they are ready, if ever. Allow them to do what is best for them.

Ending a relationship in a loving way allows peace between you rather than a battle. It is possible to remain conscious and loving through it all. Pets, children, and friends are often involved as well. A breakup can have a trickle down effect for months.

How To Turn Dull Sex Into Hot Passion-Filled Experiences

By Jennifer Elizabeth Masters

Great sex is more than technical expertise, or knowing where the G-spot lives. Passion is more about allowing yourself to feel what you are experiencing and allowing yourself to stop nit-picking or focusing on what is wrong with your partner.

If you have read my book, Orgasm For Life, you know that sex begins in the mind. Before the first touch if you are looking at your partner expecting them to be perfect or are filled with resentment, anger or mistrust passion can be stifled.

Get Out Of Your Head and Into Your Heart

The mind can prevent arousal from occurring. If you and your partner have an unresolved issue between you, it is best to discuss the problem and come to some resolution before attempting to have sex. Great communication is the cornerstone for good sex. If you can't speak up for yourself, hold onto resentment or anger passion will be absent.

Relationships can be challenging. We come from different backgrounds, like different things and certainly have needs and desires that can be radically different from each other. Accepting your partner's differences lovingly can shift you from feeling irritated to feeling loving care. Try these mind-shifting exercises to get into your heart.

  1. Sit in front of your partner and place your hand on their thymus, located just below the neck on the flat part just above the first rib. The thymus area is a second heart chakra called the "high heart." Touching this place can open the door to higher consciousness. Tapping this place twelve times each day can also boost your immune system.
  2. Breathe into your hand placed on your partner's thymus chakra. Close your eyes and tap into their energy. With both partners touching each other's high heart chakra sit for a moment with eyes closed and breathe. This will connect the two of you heart-to-heart quickly.
  3. Set an intention to join each other soul-to-soul. Getting out of the ego-mind is required for a deep soul connection.

Spend a little time eye gazing. Allowing your partner to see you as you truly are. Stepping out of the mundane into a heart-centered connected place shifts sex from a physical act into a spiritual practice of making love to your partner's Goddess, or God-self.

Looking into your partner's eyes can be a little uncomfortable. We see each other naked all the time, but looking into the depth of their soul, is another thing entirely. Sure you could skip this part, but if you do, you are missing the point. Sex with a soul-to-soul connection raises your lovemaking to a higher level. What I am describing will take you to places you have never been with your partner.

Static Kissing

Slowly begin to join your lips together without much movement. Hold your position, staying close together with lips touching.

Slowly shift lips grasping your partner's upper lip softly between yours. Hold that position and breathe. Most people are unaware of the small chakra located in the upper center of the lip, called "cupid's bow." It is a sensitive area that can be stimulated by slow kissing that builds gradually igniting the fire of passion slowly.

Slow the process down to experience kissing gently without tongues as long as you can stand it. I like to spend twenty minutes just kissing. It is such a turn-on to experience your partner's mouth, lips, and breath them in, rather than rushing to "get to the good stuff." If you don't kiss your partner you are missing a very intimate experience that can create tremendous sexual excitement to the point of trembling with desire.

Some women can experience an orgasm just by kissing. Oxytocin is released through kissing, which is a natural hormone that creates closeness, as well as sexual excitement and trust.

Room For Improvement

Everyone can improve their love-making skills! I have talked to many men about my book that think they know it all. If you have a know-it-all attitude, you will not be open to improving or learning anything new. Remember great sex isn't about being macho, or egoic, it is about stepping out of the ego into your heart and soul.

The Power of Slow Touch

Passion-filled sex takes you out of your head and into your heart. Enjoy slow touch, taking turns giving to your partner and then receiving.

Allow your partner to lie back and just enjoy the experience of you touching her slowly. Drag your fingertips over every part of her body, slowly touching her arms, shoulders, back, buttocks and inner thighs. Avoid touching genitals as this builds desire and excitement.

Use a feather to vary the type of touch. Change from feather-light touch to stronger pressure gradually. The idea is to experience each other's bodies slowly, enjoying each moment, allowing the excitement to build till you can't stand it any longer.

Oral Sex

Once you are both out of your minds with excitement for each other, shift to oral pleasuring. Allow the pleasure to build and then die down, build and die down several times before moving to penetrative sex.

Change It Up!

Penetrative sex is amazing, although most women don't orgasm through penetrative sex. Men need to take note of this fact and ensure she receives her orgasm through manual stimulation of the clitoris and G-Spot, simultaneously. Her orgasm will be more intense, profound and memorable when you are able to locate her G-spot

Hot and Hotter!

Once you get into motion, orgasm can happen for most men quickly. Instead of rushing to the end-game, plunge into her and pull out, go down on her pleasuring her with oral to add to her excitement and then go back to penetrative sex for a few deep slow strokes and pull out again, shift back to oral, changing from deep, slow penetration to oral five or six times not only will your erection last longer you will be much more able to bring her to orgasm with this technique.

Passionate sex requires a change of attitude. Passion doesn't mean that you come within two minutes of beginning a love-making session either. Passion requires patience and a giving heart. Slow down, get out of your head and feel each feeling fully. Connect eye-to-eye and take the time to kiss your partner slowly without being in a rush. Experiencing pleasure slowly, changing position, speed, pressure from light and gentle to deep and firm can add a higher consciousness to your sex life and relationship.

Everyone can shift their sex life up a notch to enjoy passionate, hot sexual experiences that you talk about for years to come!

Want To Get The Most Out Of Your Dating Experience?

By Jennifer Elizabeth Masters

Dating today can be confusing. There are more than 5,000 dating sites worldwide and 2,500 dating sites in the U.S. alone. The sites that are considered major have millions of members. OK Cupid, e-Harmony.com, and Match.com. have millions of members and are located in the United States. Plenty of Fish is located outside of the U.S. and also has millions of members.

Even if you read reviews, you can be confused about which site is best for you. I prefer a site that speaks of who you are, in my case MeetMindful.com or Soulful Match where you don't have to explain what being Spiritual means. A site that represents you well can save you a lot of aggravation and time. Dating requires an investment of time and energy. You are investing in yourself and the potential of a relationship. Give yourself time to write your profile honestly. If you work 100 hours a week, you don't have time to date.

Anything worth having requires time and energy. Jennifer Elizabeth Masters

People date for different reasons. Knowing what your intention is for dating will help to give you the best results. If you just want a casual date and casual sex, there are plenty of people who will match your criteria. If a relationship and marriage are what you are looking for, don't be afraid to state the truth on your profile.  If you want to have children say so!

How Far Is Too Far?

Decide how far you would drive twice a week to meet someone for a date. Think about the reality of long-distance before you begin looking for a dating partner out of your town. Would you relocate if things get serious? Will you want to drive an hour and a half several times a week, or more to see this new person?

If you are looking to get over an ex, dating needs to be put on the backburner. It isn't fair to you or another person to date when you are still holding a flame for your last love. Several of my clients found that what they attracted when they dated too soon was more heartbreak and disappointment. Allow yourself the time you need to heal before dating. Here are mindful practices to give you the best results for your dating investment.

  1. Be upbeat and open. Pre-judging someone can mean you overlook an excellent match because you didn't allow time to get to know them well. You can't possibly know anyone from one date.
  2. Be aware. Dating another person is as much about you as it is about them. Notice how you feel when with your prospective partner. Do you feel lacking? Do you feel comfortable and confident? Do you feel small, inadequate or out of place? Is there an undercurrent of something awkward or out of place? Do you feel uneasy with them? Uneasiness could be an intuitive feeling. Ignoring an internal warning is a caution light for you. Pay attention to your feelings. Trust your gut. Do their words and actions match? Be watchful of how you feel after your date.
  3. Notice but don't judge. Everyone has a history. If your date lets you know, they are in recovery; that's a good thing. It shows honesty and a sense of vulnerability which is a sign they are aware of their process and working on themselves.
  4. Be yourself! Authenticity attracts authenticity. The more comfortable being you that you are, the more your date will show you about themselves.
  5. Avoid talking about exes. There is plenty to talk about when getting to know someone new. Leave discussions about who cheated on you and hurt you out. Complaining about a past partner shows that you or your date are not over it. Someone who complains will very soon be complaining about you.
  6. Have fun. Dating can be very exciting. The newness of dating needs to be respected, treated as a precious new beginning. Enjoy this new person's company. Enjoy dining in new and different places. Dating is an adventure, not a chore. We never know when we begin what we are meant to learn from the experience. Don't think that each person is going to be THE ONE. Let go of attachment to the outcome and just enjoy the ride!
  7. Think outside the box! If you have always dated a particular type, expand your horizons. Broaden your age range. Date people you wouldn't in the past. See people from different fields. Your prospective partner doesn't need to do the same work as you. You might find that you still have commonalities in other areas.
  8. Be compassionate. Getting to know someone new can lead to nervousness, worry about what the other thinks or feels about you. When you both share stories about life put yourself in the other person's shoes rather than being quick to judge. Imagine how you would feel if you had their experience. Compassion brings your heart into the dating process.
  9. Be kind. Kindness is reciprocal. Give what you want in return. Everyone enjoys loving kindness, respect, and appreciation.
  10. Take things slow. Getting to know someone takes time. Trying to rush into a relationship before you know each other could lead to disastrous results. Take time talking without drugs and alcohol. If every date becomes a drink fest, you might not be seeing the truth.
  11.  Put sex off until you know you like and are compatible together. Sex too soon clouds your mind with a flush of hormones that make you bond and feel "In love" when it is the oxytocin talking. Sex on a first date will make your date a hook-up rather than an opportunity for something greater and more meaningful.
  12. Be honest. If you don't care to discuss something just yet, say so. It's okay to shelve a discussion for later in the dating process if you aren't quite ready. Don't lie about your age, income or lifestyle to just "get someone." Treat others kindly and you can't go wrong!
