Peace, Love and Joy Today And Always

By Jennifer Elizabeth Masters

Our soul needs to be fed. We feed our soul with the beauty of nature, music, meditation, chanting and filling ourselves with love. When we are grounded in the present we witness world events and can laugh at what is happening rather than being caught up in the back-biting and ego-driven words on FaceBook and elsewhere. It is possible, following are suggestions that work for me, feel them out and test the waters as they may work for you as well.

When we live in the present moment knowing each moment is perfect we stop worrying about the outer world and see it for the amazing perfection that it is. JEM

Those that know me know that I have adult children. Some are more adult than others. They are all making their way. In the middle of my day, my daughter might call. Within a few seconds, I can be lambasted for something I haven't done or lashed out at for no reason. It happens. My daughter is angry. Her father died when she was only sixteen. I recognize that these are her issues, not mine. She is making her way in life, just as I did long ago. I don't take on her pain. I don't attempt to fix her. I guide her when she is prepared to listen and shut up when she isn't.

I know we can only control ourselves. We can't make anyone else happy but ourselves. I stopped trying to "fix" others a long time ago. Being a guide is very different than trying to fix another.

If my peace has been shattered by an angry person, I will stop and take a walk in nature, or meditate. I sit silently, breathing deeply. In a few seconds I am back, grounded and peace filled once again. Meditation doesn't mean you won't have thoughts. Meditation is a focus in spite of the thoughts. Chanting a mantra helps to move us through a noisy mind.

Not Everyone Is Where We Are

The people we encounter may not be on the same page as we are. We have to allow others to have their experience and not allow their experience to taint ours. You can say in your mind, "That's not part of my reality," or something similar to shift your mind back to what you do want. Respond with love and compassion to others and watch how the world shifts.

Life Is Happening As It Needs To With Perfection

Whether our partner or government is doing what we think they need to be or others aren't doing what we feel they need to, it is all perfect. Thinking that things should be different than they are means we out of alignment. It's all good. It's all perfect. Donald Trump is doing exactly what he needs to do to encourage more people's shadow material (negative emotions) to surface and heal.

If we are triggered by something that happens it isn't the other person's fault. The triggers that are within us to show us we have an issue. Getting angry with the person that pushes the button is misplaced blame. We aren't victims. Life doesn't happen to us, it happens for us! Be compassionate toward yourself and those that trigger you.

You might want to read my article about whether we really need to say some of the things we do to others. Does It Really Need To Be Said?  Once we begin to turn inward we usually find that the trigger was within us or we wouldn't have been triggered at all. Compassion is so much softer than judgment. Turn the compassion inward, breathe it in fully.

If you feel like crying, allow yourself to cry. It may be the fastest way to move through to the other side of the strong emotions.

Avoidance And The Pain It Creates

Ignoring issues and stuffing emotions causes illness. Our emotions are meant to move. If you have been told to stop crying as a child or an adult you probably have issues speaking up for yourself, like me. I had to work very diligently to move beyond being silent when I was upset.

My parents didn't allow us to express emotions, like so many at that time. They didn't know any better. Kids were taught to put up or shut up. The truth of the matter is that we grew up with emotional neglect.  (Watch for a future article about emotional neglect next.) When we fear conflict, we keep silent. Our partners and loved ones don't recognize why we are upset because we are unable to communicate effectively.

How To Meditate

Sit upright in a chair, bed or in the lotus position. You don't have to sit in the lotus position, but it does help to shut down energies to quiet the mind while meditating. Sitting upright is important. The spine needs to be straight to allow the chakras to be open, aligned and energy to flow.

Gayan or Jnana Mudra

A mudra is a hand and finger position. We have five elements within us, each of our fingers represent a different element. The thumb represents the element of fire. The index finger represents air. Holding these two together in the Gayan mudra quiets the mind by increasing concentration and is a gesture of knowledge and creativity. Placing your hands gently to rest on our thighs provides grounding. Holding the hands in the air, palms upward when feeling receptive allows you to receive.

Place your hands, gently on your thighs or knees. Any mind chatter you have about not needing to put your thumb and index finger together is ego-based. Ignore it. Thinking you can't meditate is also just mind chatter. Ignore that too. I can't tell you how many people I have helped (including me) to move beyond negative thoughts about, not being able to meditate or do many other things well. Allow those thoughts to drift away. Put them in a blue balloon and let them float away if it helps you to do so.

Breathe deeply. Inhale filling your lungs as full as you can get them and exhale slowly. Experience your breathing notice how it feels, sounds and how calming a simple breath can be.

Use A Mantra To Quiet The Mind

Mantras give the active mind something to do so that the errant thoughts quiet. A mantra creates a blissful mind quickly. You can fight it, you can say you don't want to, but the sooner you begin to use mantras, the faster the mind quiets. The following are mantras you can use. The first two are elements of my video below. The Divine Presence Process Mantra is a powerful meditation that allows you to give and receive love.

I am the Divine Light inside me.
I love me
I am love
Om

Resistance is what show us when you argue with a suggestion that will help you. Resistance causes suffering. Suffering is always optional.

When we can stay present in the moment and be okay with whatever is going on, we begin to experience wonderment and joy no matter what. I am not saying that we might not feel trepidation with preparations of war or unrest in the world. However, we can shift quickly to be feeling peace by turning inward rather than focusing on what is wrong with the world.

When we can be okay with what is life is sweeter. We become happier, focused on each moment rather than sitting in expectation and fear of the worst thing happening. Food tastes better, we have more joy in nature and the small things in life that surround us.

We notice the smallest of details, the nuances of life, rather than focusing on the worst that might happen. Joy is found within us, not in the world. The feelings of joy are within you, allow me to help you uncover your inner joy and set up a discovery session with me to find your joy, bliss, and happiness inside you. Do You Know What Brings You Happiness?

By Jennifer Elizabeth Masters

Like the six blind men and the elephant, we can all look at the same thing with a very different perspective. We only see what we look at. Without focusing on a subject, we don't recognize it
or have an awareness. When we don't recognize it, how can we feel it? What we're doing today is turning your focus to what makes you the happiest?

Until someone asked me the question above, I had no idea what made me happy, because I never thought of it. Once asked I found the answer changed for me. A year or two ago, I would have answered my family is what brings me the greatest joy. Today I would say it is my work and service to others that charges me up and has me feeling passionate.

Think about each of the words below and rate them on a scale of 1 to 10. If you feel very positive and happy about the word, rate it a ten. If the word doesn't make you feel happy at all rate it a one. Circle all the words that have tens in green for positive or GO! Circle all the ones with black or red. Anything five or under can be yellow for caution. If you have something that works better to help you recognize which is positive and which is less than great.

Happiness is different for everyone. You might feel a community is what brings you joy and happiness. Others might find that solitude is what brings on the bliss. Being out in nature and witnessing wildlife might be what ignites your fire and brings you happiness. Meditation might be a ten for your mate, while you find exercise creates the greatest amount of happiness and bliss for you. There are no wrong answers.

If you don't include fun and play in your life currently, find ways to do so. Life is meant to be fun. What's stopping you? Life is short have a ball! Play reduces stress and raises serotonin levels in the brain. Serotonin is what keeps you from feeling depressed and anxious. Yes, play will help you reduce anxiety as well. Stress is the number one cause of illness and disease. So get playing!

I would love to hear what your answers were. Join the conversation on Facebook. When my son asked me this question years ago, I hadn't thought of how to create more happiness and joy on purpose before. Since that time, I have shifted my schedule so that my day incorporates the greatest amount of events that I enjoy and a few of the ones I enjoy less in smaller increments of time.

Examples Of LifeStyle Changes For Greater Happiness

Once we recognize the greatest source of joy for us, we also have the data to see what are our least favorite activities. Whenever possible delegate the things you don't enjoy doing. Hire someone to assist you with the housekeeping for example if you hate to clean, but love a clean house. If life brings you down, its time to hire me as your coach so that I can help to dovetail your life to find your joy, passion, and inspiration and clear the limiting beliefs and blocks to happiness.

If you hate commuting, but live two hours away from your office, see if you can work from home and telecommute several days a week. If you hate your job, focus on finding work you love to do so that you have fun working, then it doesn't even feel like work any longer.

The purpose of this exercise is to raise awareness of what it is in your life that gives you the greatest amount of joy. Follow the joy to raise your level of happiness. Do more things that bring you the number ten. If you aren't able to eliminate those activities that don't light you on fire, add some novelty and create unusual ways to exercise or commute with music or audible books to learn while you are on the road. Happiness is more about making choices to emphasize what you love and doing things in novel ways to keep you from falling asleep on the road of life.

What patterns do you have that you have lived with your entire life? What are you avoiding? What are you still afraid of?

With Gratitude for you!

I Absolutely Love and Adore My Family!

By Jennifer Elizabeth Masters

My wish for you this day is the love and peace you so deserve. Christmas is about joy, I wish you so much joy!

I love my family. This year all of my children and their partners will get together for a week of Christmas celebrating, rock climbing, hiking, game playing, and painting. We celebrate like nobody's business. Our Christmas is unorthodox, just like we are.

We don't drink alcohol. We don't go to church. We are however extremely spiritual. We treat each other the way we wanted to be treated and speak our truth. We have all come a long way on this journey of life. I am so pleased with how evolved my entire family has become.

Near SouthPark, CO
We are conscious. We are self-aware and loving. We don't always agree with what the other might say, but at the same time, we are in a place where we can be okay with what others are doing and creating with their lives. We don't have to agree all the time to be overjoyed to spend time with one another.

David with Ray and Jennifer
My family is one of my biggest joys. I am happiest when I am with my adult children. In fact, I usually make at least four trips to Colorado where we spend time together every year.

I left my home on Tuesday and have been making my way with my dogs, heavy gear, boots, warm sweaters and presents to give. Giving to my family is a great joy to me. This year we decided to keep the spending low, but the joy quotient high. The emphasis isn't on the gift, but the love we feel for one another instead.

Adam taking center stage running the art studio
We do activities together. We walk our dogs together. We hike, paint, take road trips and play Cards Against Humanity. Why? We all love adventure. Couple all these activities with a joy of simply being together and you have some wide open hearts!

We laugh and enjoy each other's company while communing with nature, being creative and just being together. Adam loved to paint and began following his dream to do so when we first moved to Boulder in 2011. He encouraged us all to pick up paint brushes two years ago. Painting at Christmas has become a tradition for our family. I have three of the paintings hanging in my home today.

Bill Gates, Adam Gates, Ariel, me and Josh
So today, I finish up my 1,100-mile trip and land in Boulder, Colorado. We are all so excited to see one another. We don't dread our time together, it is just the opposite. I don't tell my kids how to live their lives, and they accept my weird ways. What they don't know is that I am going to treat them all with a hypnosis session this Christmas.

Ask yourself; I am happiest when ___________________.

I am happiest when I am with my family having fun, cooking, painting, walking, playing enjoying what I have created with God.

I have a great relationship with my boy's father and had a great relationship with Rich until he transitioned. I don't fight with anyone anymore. Life is too short, have a ball!

Adam's heart painting is the backdrop for my videos on YouTube.

Is It Possible To Have An Orgasm For Life?

By Jennifer Elizabeth Masters

There are some things that can't be reproduced. We have a good time one minute and when we attempt to repeat it, well, it just doesn't come close. I have done many radio interviews, and some just can't be replicated. Following is one of them, with Linzi Levinson on my old network, Voice America.

Sex is better when we are deeply connected on a soul level with our partner. Once we have built trust with our partner we can let go, unleashing our passion at the deepest level. Sex without passion is like taking a bath in someone else's bath water. It's yucky, and it doesn't do what it's meant to.

We Have A Groovy Kind of Love

By Jennifer Elizabeth Masters

Relationships are what we make them. The happier we are with ourselves and more in love with life, our world and who we are, the better our relationships become. Saying yes, rather than no makes you infinitely more approachable opening you to the infinite possibilities of the beautiful universe.

I am an expert at relationships because I have had all kinds of them. I know what works and what doesn't. I counsel and guide both women and men of all ages on happiness which is the foundation for a balanced relationship. Sometimes we get stuck and need someone to untangle our upsets and help us get back on track, which is what I help couples and singles do. We get triggered by our partners, friends and family and may blame the person who pressed on our sensitive button from past events.

Once we are happy with ourselves everything including our relationships improve. Our biggest problem is feeling that others owe us something or having expectations of others that are too high.

How To Release Your Partner From Bondage

We expect someone else to make us happy. Let go of waiting for happiness to come from outside of you. It doesn't. Leaving one relationship and jumping into another won't do it if you aren't first happy and in love with yourself first. If you don't love yourself first, how can anyone else love you?

Shift Your Perspective

 1. Do life differently. Loving life means having some adventures along the way.Take a different route to work. Invite a friend to join you for lunch and let them know how much they mean to you. Love comes in all different colors, sizes, and shapes. Friendships, family members, and pets all bring love into our lives.

Cook naked! Eat dinner on your patio or take a walk somewhere you've always wanted to go. Make life a joy by changing up your old familiar patterns by feeding your partner juicy fruit in bed. Enjoy each moment, we never know how many we have left.

2. Have some fun. Doing the same thing, in the same way, every day leads to boredom, rather than a love of life. Incorporate fun,
and happiness into your day. Plan to meet with friends in person, rather than by text. Seeing others face-to-face so you can hug them, see their response and touch them is infinitely more fun that talking or texting. Play board games, rather than being bored with life. Make life a game!

3. Enjoy nature every day. Our earth is full of surprises and joy. We need to get outside to witness the beautiful and the magical daily. Trees and plants have a consciousness and will return love to you. Try it, hug a tree, tell it you love it and feel what comes back to you.

Love is groovy when you make life more interesting and fun. Change up your routine and enjoy the love of your life, even if you are the one on the receiving end!

Our Mind Is Not Our Friend

By Jennifer Elizabeth Masters

The mind is everything. What you think you become. Buddha

Our mind can bring us great joy, or intense suffering. Harnessing the power of the mind by turning our attention inward can be a challenge when we allow our mind to run amok. With an inner focus we can heal our obsessive thoughts, depression and even illness.

A strong identification with our ego-mind (conscious mind) can cause us tremendous suffering. Our minds can create stories that aren't real. Believing the stories we have created creates chaos and conflict in our outer world. The thoughts we think and our resistance to what is happening can cause us to feel bad both mentally and physically. Our mind can cause us to have intense emotional reactions, pain in our physical body because we believe these stories. We can create migraines, back pain and illnesses like Diabetes, Fibromyalgia, Cancer and Auto-Immune disorders.

Physical pain and illness is caused by our internal conflict and resistance.

Drinking alcohol, taking drugs or reaching for sweets to numb the pain is resistance to it.

The stories our mind creates of not being good enough, not being loved, accepted or unwanted are the source of our pain and suffering.

Ways Our Mind Causes Us To Suffer

  1. Worrying about things we can't control.
  2. Ending a relationship just as things begin to go well.
  3. Thinking happiness can't last.
  4. Having fear
  5. Waiting for the other shoe to drop.
  6. Feeling not good enough.
  7. Thinking people don't like you.
  8. Feeling unable to care for yourself or helpless as an adult.
  9. Feeling there is no way out, or trapped.
  10. Looking for approval from others.
  11. Attracting negative people into your life that could hurt you.
  12. Thinking that alcohol or drugs will make you feel better.

Our need to control everything around us is our mind trying to hold onto what we believe will make us happy. Often as soon as we get what we thought we wanted, we aren't happy with that either.

A client recently called me in a terrible emotional state. In fact, she burst into tears as soon as I answered the phone. She was upset by something that she thought had happened because of a post she read on FaceBook. She was reacting to the story that her mind created about what she read. Rather than going to the source and asking what did this mean, she created drama and trauma for herself and her friend.

I remember when my emotions ruled my life. All the past trauma I had experienced caused me to stuff emotions. The trapped emotions in my cellular body from past experiences created havoc in my relationships and my world. Everywhere I turned there was conflict because I had a conflict inside of me. I felt self-loathing because I hadn't healed the past. I felt regret for all that had happened and I hadn't realized that all those past experiences were the catalyst for tremendous growth spiritually. Once I let go of the past stories, my body healed too.

How often do you react rather than be the witness?

Harnessing The Power Of The Mind

Turning inward and focusing on what is going on inside of us allows us to see the source of the pain. Ask yourself questions, rather than jumping to conclusions.

  • What am I feeling?
  • Do I feel unloved or unworthy?
  • Am I comparing myself to others?
  • Is the thought I am having real?
  • Is what I am thinking true, or imagined?
  • Am I creating this fear from a past experience?
  • When have I felt this way before?
  • How can I feel loved right now?

Our natural state is bliss. If you aren't feeling happy and joyful, what is it you are feeling? How can you shift your emotional state to one of love and happiness? What can you do right now that will help you feel completely loved?

Mantras Heal The Mind

I have found that mantras are the fastest path to healing the mind and the crazy stories we tell ourselves. Mantras calm and soothe the mind by creating congruency in the mind and therefore the body as well. Using mantras right before sleep helps you go into a deep state of sleep where healing occurs.

Don't believe in mantras and meditation?

I had a client from India tell me she couldn't meditate. She had far too much mental chatter to meditate and resisted my recommendation to do so. She continued to do her daily prayers until one day; I suggested she just try to do the meditation. Within

three months this woman was totally free of mental chatter! She let go of her resistance and opened up to a new idea. When we let go of her resistance, miraculously her mind quieted. Amazing!

Mantras change our chemistry from acidic to alkaline. Our body will heal as our chemistry changes to alkaline.

5 Ways To Activate The Mind's Natural Opiates and Get High on Life

I am loved
I am safe
I am secure
I am beautiful
I am powerful
I am strong
God loves me
I am loved

I am strong, powerful, happy, harmonious and loving.

Our mind can be a source of great joy when we harness its power and substitute positive thoughts or mantras that play in the background of our mind. We can even heal depression by harnessing our mind's incredible power. Using mantras daily while doing mundane tasks will reprogram the mind to be in our natural state of joy, bliss, and health.

How to Play The Game of Life to Find Happiness

By Jennifer Elizabeth Masters

You might think that Spirituality is something new. Florence Scovel Shin wrote the book, The Game of Life and How To Play It, in 1925. Florence was an illustrator who became a NewThought and Metaphysical Teacher in mid-life. Her book is one I highly recommend to understand how we can wave a magic wand over our life with our words and have what we want.

Do Not Pass Go!

Our minds tell us stories of woe, if we believe them we can't move forward.

Do Not Collect $200!

Most people think money, wealth, a big home and new car or relationship will bring them happiness. Happiness is a choice, and it begins with each of us. Once we decide to be happy, no matter what, we give less energy to life's bumps, detours, and problems.

Get Out Of Jail Free!

Most people re-play their painful story of divorce, loss, and trauma repeatedly dwelling on what went wrong and all their problems. The issue with re-telling our story is that we keep bringing the past into our future with our words coupled with our emotions about our story. We can't step into a bright shiny and happy tomorrow if our words today dwell on darkness, sadness, problems and regret.

The Rules For A Happy Life

  1. Know that everyone has some trauma, abuse, suffering, and pain.
  2. Pain is the catalyst for change if you can see it differently.
  3. Your reaction to life's events is what creates blocks, limiting beliefs and trapped emotions that continue to bring you what you don't want.
  4. Everyone you meet is a mirror into your soul. They reflect back to you what is going on inside of you.
  5. Don't shoot the messenger that delivers the message of #3 above.
  6. What you are blaming someone else for is your issue.
  7. Look at the solution rather than the problem.
  8. Speak of what you want, rather than what you don't want.
  9. Let go of the old story that mommy was mean, cruel and didn't validate you. Everyone has some element of a mommy issue.
  10. If you lost a parent, forgive them for leaving you and forgive yourself for asking for such a challenge to spur your growth forward.
  11. Know that you are the one that requested to learn about love, communication, and happiness before you incarnated.
  12. You program your unconscious mind with the words you speak, so make your words count.
  13. Keep your thoughts positive.
  14. Direct your thoughts and words to speak of what you want rather than what you don't want.
  15. Get your energy cleared so that you can let go of the guilt, shame, regret and emotions that continue to attract what you don't want.
  16. Your purpose here on this planet is to grow, evolve, heal and be happy so that you can be generous and give back to others in
    various ways.
  17. Selfless giving is one of the fastest ways to experience great joy.
  18. Everyone is going through the same thing.
  19. Be compassionate towards yourself and others.
  20. Anger is the easiest emotion to feel, usually masking fear and pain.
  21. Each time you don't get the lesson, you will repeat it until you do.
  22. Life is University for each of us. Life will teach us more about ourselves than any school could ever do.
  23. Congratulate yourself when you learn your lesson.

  24. Know that you are already on your path. As long as your feet touch the ground you are in the right place at the right time.
  25. There is no right or wrong. If you choose a partner know that they are as imperfectly perfect as you.
  26. Accept yourself with all your quirks, weirdness, and beauty that is you.
  27. Have FUN!

5 Things A Pet Can Do To Bring You Happiness

By Jennifer Elizabeth Masters

All of my life pets were at the forefront, participating, entertaining and communicating. My sense of self-was certainly increased by having pets. These five things are what I have learned from over sixty years of having, loving and laughing with my pets.

1. Pets keep you company. When you are alone, feeling sad and even crying a dog or cat will be a furry face to bury yours in, to hold, hug and embrace. When no one else is around your pet can be a comfort, hold space for your tears to fall and be there to greet you happily when you return from work or an outing. No human will ever give you the kind of greeting your pets will consistently.

2. Pets teach you, unconditional love. Being accepted as we are always is what pets do. They never judge, hate, or criticize us. Pets accept us on our best but also accept our worst. Pets won't leave us because we don't look as pretty as we used to, or aren't feeling well.

3. Pets will make you laugh. Pets seem to know when we need a good laugh, to not take ourselves and life so seriously. Watching our pets can make us take a closer look at how serious we are so that we can be as silly as them. Getting in touch with our silly, childlike side is an important part of staying you.

4. Pets teach you sign language. All pets will communicate with their owners mind-to-mind. They are highly intuitive. They also will teach you what our words mean to them. My dog Karma signs for food, water and out. She lets me know what she wants. When I don't pay attention, she will become insistent, getting louder and louder or more emphatic by jumping up when she makes the sign for food.

5. Pets teach us acceptance. When we accept things the way they are life becomes so much easier. Dogs and cats accept us and love us anyway. Our pets find ways to be happy in the worst conditions. As long as they are with us, they are happy.

I have seen homeless people all across the country with their loyal companions in cold, wet or snowy conditions. Pets help us recognize that everything is well as long as we are together.

Pets have been known to be so dedicated that after their master dies they never leave the gravesite or side of the road where they were left. Pets are loyal to a fault and will bring you endless joy and happiness the more you engage and interact with them.

Watching your pets can not only bring you happiness but love as well. What a combination of loyalty, unconditional love and a playfulness that brings us to a state of joy just by watching them play. I have found endless joy through my four-legged family members. My adult children now have their own pets as well, keeping the tradition alive.
