Does Your Posture Radiate Confidence To The World?

By Jennifer Elizabeth Masters

As an observer of life and a mother, I notice how people walk into a room, stand and sit. I have reminded my youngest hundreds of times to stand up straight and tall to project her best self. Notice your posture right now. Are your shoulders back, is your chin up and chest out? Or are you hunched over barely able to hold yourself upright?

Why is posture so important?

If you want to live a long healthy life and be pain-free, your good posture is paramount. You will have the bonus of projecting positive vibes out into the world at the same time. You exude confidence when you stand up straight.

Your posture messages all you meet how you feel about yourself before you even say one word. Rounded shoulders signal low self-esteem and insecurity. You may have difficulties meeting strangers or social awkwardness.

If your neck is protruding forward, you care deeply about your family, but will probably suffer from tension headaches and neck problems. Correct this soon or you could have a hump in the middle of your back by the time you are in your mid-fifties, not to mention headaches and serious issues with degeneration of the upper vertebrae.

What Is Good Posture?

  • chin up
  • shoulders back and down
  • chest lifted
  • tail bone tucked slightly under
  • tummy in -  you have to suck it in!
  • pelvis slightly tilted upward
  • imagine a string from the top of your head pulling you up

Standing straight with your spine in alignment will help you live a longer healthier life. When you stand up straight, your organs don't struggle for oxygen. You feel more powerful.

Sitting Upright

Ensure that when you are seated in a chair, you aren't slouching and hunched over. Breathe deeply, shoulders back and chin up.

Superheroes Do It!

Wonderwoman had great posture. She was powerful and confident. Okay, she is a superhero. But what superhero have you ever seen that slouched over or had their neck protruding? Standing with your hands on your hips for 3 minutes before a presentation or event will increase your confidence immediately. Try it; you'll like it.

You gotta love those red boots! Linda where ever did you get them?

7 Reasons To Own A Pet For Increased Happiness and Joy

By Jennifer Elizabeth Masters

Social support is critical for well-being. Believe it or not, but a pet provides amazing benefits psychologically supporting us and improving health and overall well-being. If you don't have a pet, you might want to consider getting one to increase your happiness.

1. Pets provide us humans with a sense of belonging. A study in the Journal of Personal and Social Psychology found that having a pet is beneficial on many levels, improving our lives by providing support. Pet owners reported receiving as much support from their pet as they did from family members. The emotional support and a sense of community received from our pets also build self-esteem.

David and Ray
2. Pets are accepting and help us to be less fearful. Pets help us stave off social rejection. Even thinking of your pet can help you overcome a feeling of social rejection. Pets are always loving, and happy to see us when we arrive at home. Pets also help us interact more positively with other humans as we come out of our shell and open up to love.

3. Pets get us exercising. Pet owners are healthier because they exercise more often. Owning a dog especially will get you up off the couch and outside, even when you might not want to where you will feel better by doing something for yourself and your dog.

4. Pets make us more responsible. Becoming responsible is part of becoming an adult. We have to be disciplined to walk, feed, change litter on a regular basis, even if we might not want to. Being responsible is one of the first steps to having greater self-esteem and accountability. A pet makes us more conscientious giving us a feeding and walking schedule and being home to take care of them.

5. Pet owners are less lonely. In three different studies conducted pet owners were significantly less lonely than those without pets. Opening the door to an excited tail wagging, or a cat who purrs and jumps off the couch to greet you can be a great relief for those who

live alone. You even have company at night when reading or sleeping. A pet on your bed at night provides a warm sense of feeling loved consistently.

6. Pet owners are less depressed. A pet can improve your mood and make you laugh. Pets know intuitively what their owners are feeling and often comfort their owners when sad, crying or depressed. The act of stroking your cat or dog reduces stress and provides comfort. A pet is a tremendous source of loving support providing us a friendly, loyal companion and love.

7. Pet owners are healthier overall. Pets help us reduce stress, help us heal from illnesses or surgery. A study of New York stockbrokers found that owning a pet was better at controlling blood pressure than drugs. Medication worked well to keep things stable normally, but pets were found to be better at reducing blood pressure when things got tense.

Karma and Isabelle
Adding a pet to your household has a positive effect on your overall well-being giving you love, support and a sense of belonging. Pet owners get more exercise and feel happier than those who don't have pets. There have been very few years when I didn't have both cats or at least one dog.

My pets are members of my family offering me loyal companionship and company on my travels. Karma has been with

Yoda and Ariel at LAX
me now for sixteen years. She is a constant source of joy and love for me. She monitors my cats and keeps everyone in line, loving our trips to the beach and road trips across the country.

Sex As Medicine

By Jennifer Elizabeth Masters

Sex heals

Pleasure, touch and orgasm can heal the body. For most of us, when we think about sex, we think pleasure. How can pleasure heal? Touch lowers blood pressure. A simple hug can calm another person down. Think about the stroking of an arm, the massage of a thigh, a kiss on a belly. Each event excites and heals the body. Breathe.

Deepak Chopra has said that sex is the closest thing that most people experience of meditation. Meditation heals. It is a scientific fact that meditation reduces stress, heart disease and high blood pressure. Sex goes beyond meditation, involving touch, pleasure, and ecstasy. When we reach the pinnacle of pleasure in an orgasm, we experience something greater than ourselves. Eighty centers of the brain light up, during orgasm, that no other event a human can experience creates. We have a glimpse of our Divinity.

Abstinence even in moderation offers by contrast nothing for the mental, physical or emotional body.

Think about it this way; you and your partner disagree, an argument erupts both of you stomp off and sleep in separate beds. Imagine your partner coming into the bedroom, apologizing for being such a goofball (fill in the blank), and expressing to you how much he loves you. You open your arms to him, and you make love. How different is the result of your argument after you come together in the bliss of a sexual experience versus sleeping in separate rooms, or on your side of the bed?

Or for you men, perhaps she is the one that recognizes how unreasonable she has been and offered herself to you on the couch? What do you feel now? Your anger subsides, your blood pressure is lowered, you sleep snuggled together, rather than separately. The difference is immense.

Sex heals emotions, the mental body as well as the physical body. The letting go and surrendering to pleasure shifts everything in your physiology. The fight or flight response is removed. Don't take my word for it, Forbes Magazine explains what sex does for you in "Sex Does The Body Good," article here.

The Benefits of Sex

  1. Relieves depression. If that isn't enough for you, wait, there is more! Endorphins are released with mere hand-holding, imagine what an orgasm can do for you. Feel good hormones are released which give you a happy feeling. Oxytocin, the bonding hormone, is released with hand-holding, kissing and orgasm.
  2. Cardiovascular Health. Regular sex reduces the risk of heart disease, lowers blood pressure and increases oxygenation of the blood. Queens University in Belfast studied 1,000 men over the course of their life and discovered that sex three times a week reduced the risk of stroke and heart disease by half.
  3. Pain Relief. The pain receptors in the brain are shut off during sex, relieving pain in the body.
  4. Migraine Relief. An orgasm will relieve the pain of a migraine. Masturbation is one way to go, making love with orgasm as the result will get you over the hump so to speak of intense pain.
  5. Weight Loss. A vigorous sexual workout will burn 200 calories. You could be walking on a treadmill, but hey, I would much rather a romp in the hay than walking on a machine, wouldn't you? Sex helps you tone muscles in your arms, belly, thorax, buttocks, thighs and even the pelvis. A British study determined that sex three times a week for a year will work off three Big Macs from McDonalds! Not that I recommend you eat fast food, but for grins and giggles maybe you might want to see what happens for you, with a sexual workout that occurs on a regular basis.
  6. Increases Testosterone. Ya Buddy! More sex, higher hormone levels.
  7. Increases Female Hormones. If you don't much feel like it, having more frequent sexual gymnastics you will have more natural lubrication, higher levels of hormones that help with weight loss.
  8. Decreases Tooth Decay. Even kissing will help reduce tooth decay. Think about what giving your man oral sex will do. He certainly is! Seminal fluid carries a magical punch of zinc, calcium, and minerals to inhibit tooth decay.
  9. Improved Sense of Smell. Can't stop and smell the roses? Sex will help you in that department too! Prolactin surges after sex which develops neurons in the olfactory bulb, your smell center.
  10. Increases Longevity. A study from Queens University in Belfast studied 1,000 men (mentioned above) over the course of their lifetime. They found that men who had higher rates had deaths at half the rate of those who were couch potatoes.
  11. Better Bladder Control. You may not care now, but as we age, sneezing can become a rush to the bathroom! When we use our pelvic floor muscles, PC muscles and squeeze during sex, the strengthens the pelvic floor and increases muscles control. The bladder can prolapse (come out of the vagina) when women don't hold in their bellies or strengthen the pelvic floor muscles. Kegels will help, if you don't have a partner at the moment.
  12. Sense of Well-Being. I could go on touting all the health benefits of sex, for days! You will feel happier with your life with more frequent sex and orgasm. What you will find is that you feel more connected with your partner, less likely to fight, argue, or criticize someone you are having blissful sex with three times a week.
  13. Good For Prostate Health. Men need orgasms for a healthy prostate. There are ways to massage the prostate, having regular orgasms is one of them. A finger inserted through the anus gently massaging the prostate can work just as well. The natural rhythm of orgasmic contractions gently massages the prostate naturally.
  14. Reduction in Blood Pressure Spikes. A physical, sexual encounter with a partner has a cascade effect on your blood pressure. The hormones released have a long-lasting effect keeping your blood pressure lower with fewer spikes when you have upsets.
Our sexuality is at the core of our personal being. Our self-esteem comes from living authentically grounded in our sexuality. Suicide and depression are often side-effects of not being able to express sexuality when it conflicts with what society believes is normal. Regular sex means more than once a month. In fact, this little joke below might give you some insight into the predominant understanding of American marriage:

Bob: "Did you know that the average man has sex 2-3 times a week, while Japanese people have sex 2-3 times a year?"

Frank: "I didn't realize I was Japanese!"

Bob: How do you get a woman to stop having sex?
Frank: I don't know, how?
Bob: Marry her!

We need to change this paradigm. I was in a sexless marriage, and I was the one that wanted to have sex. It isn't pleasant to have someone reject you. Over time, being rejected can be detrimental to our self-esteem. We begin to wonder what is wrong with us. A loving relationship involves regular sex. Sex is not the foundation but certainly does assist the communication and deepen the bond between a couple.

9 Amazing Benefits Of Watching A Sunrise

By Jennifer Elizabeth Masters

Sunrise is a magnificent time of day. It is an awakening of the planet, birds, trees and wildlife. It is always a new beginning. If you have romance in your soul, witnessing this beautiful daybreak can bring joy into your mundane life. It doesn't cost anything to watch a sunrise. You could be on your porch drinking coffee, holding hands together. Or if you live alone like I do, you witness it with your dogs out in the desert.

Even with a friend staying with me, being alone in the desert at sunrise was a spectacular and emotional experience this morning. I tried to go back to bed, but my cats weren't having it. I capitulated and got myself dressed. I am so glad I did because the beauty of this morning was overwhelming.

Sun-gazing is an old method of healing. Our ancestors worshiped the sun for many reasons. This is what you will receive if you look up instead of down while you walk:

  1. Grandeur. The sun is such a magnificent energy. Look up and witness the beauty. Notice the subtle changes in the sky as the sun rises up over the mountains, trees, houses or buildings where you are. For me, it was the dry dusty mountains to the east.
  2. Peace. At sunrise, the energy from the sun is one of peace. Open your heart and feel it. Allow it to permeate your being.
  3. Beauty. There is a beauty all around us, yet, many never notice it. When you begin to notice the little things, your life takes on a brighter hue. You will find happiness in the smallest of details.
  4. Gratitude. You are alive another day. What? "Big deal," you say? Waking up is a gift. I know many people who die in their sleep. Being grateful just to be alive shifts your perspective. You will stop taking your life, partner, children, friends for granted. Each day is a beautiful gift. Be grateful. Say thank you to the sun for rising on this gorgeous day.
  5. Healing.  The sun can recharge you. It is composed of ultraviolet light which the body needs for optimum health. The sun stimulates the production of melanin, stimulates the metabolism, (especially metabolism of minerals) is good for helping glands that take care of internal secretion.
  6. Natural Source of Vitamin D.  In humans Vitamin D changes to calcium in the body which encourages the hormone endorphin production. Endorphins give you that feel good feeling which causes happiness and satisfaction which prevents depression. I wonder if more people got out in the early morning and walked, would we have fewer people taking anti-depressants?
  7. Sunlight is good for the nervous system. Lack of sunlight is now linked to PTSD. Exposure to the sun can reduce anxiety. It is a known fact in Scandanavian countries that reduced sunlight causes nervousness, depression, and other health issues.
  8. Reduces  the incidence of major diseases. Many people have gone above and beyond to avoid being in the sun, wearing clothing that covers their skin up. Skin cancer is a smaller risk than most of these other diseases prevented from sunlight exposure. The list is long: breast cancer, colon cancer, diabetes, osteoporosis, elevated blood pressure, heart disease, multiple sclerosis, ovarian cancer, Osteomalacia, prostate cancer, psoriasis, rickets, Seasonal Affect Disorder, (which I had living in Canada) tooth decay, tuberculosis.
  9. Unadulterated JOY! This morning I got down on my hands and knees and thanked the sun for the wonderful joy I felt witnessing the awakening of the world, another day of life and the love I have for all things God-like in this world. Without the sun, we would die.
Vitamin D deficiency is rampant especially among the elderly. They are often housebound. Taking Vitamin D does not guarantee enough of a dosage, as the original FDA dosage was based on normal exposure to the sun. The elderly do not receive natural sunlight and therefore, are deficient in Vitamin D.

On top of all the stunning beauty, watching a sunrise is a romantic event. I felt that in love feeling while walking through the desert. The sun gleamed sending a beam of light right to me, through me and all around me. What's not to love?

Will The Truth Set You Free?

As Featured On EzineArticles By Jennifer Elizabeth Masters

or just really piss you off!

"Even an ugly truth is better than a lie." Cody Goldenelk

Meriam Webster's definition of truth is:

  • Conformity to fact or actuality.
  • A statement proven to be or accepted as true.
  • Sincerity; integrity.
  • Fidelity to an original or standard.

Twenty years ago, you could get away with lying to your spouse, or partner and no one would notice. Times have changed. What used to work in relationships is not working today. People's awareness is becoming more acute. Innuendos and subterfuge will be uncovered. There are no secrets in the universe.

The biggest change in relationships is the level of honesty that is required to maintain them. Faking, lying and cheating cannot continue when you live an authentic and honest life. People with strong commitment and character do not lie, cheat or steal.

We have all experienced long-term friendships falling away as we grow and evolve. Sometimes relationships fall apart because they no longer support us. We can try to hang onto these relationships but will find that uncomfortable feelings begin to surface and your heart will lead the way. Instead of continuing to hang on because of the history between you, you will let go of the strings and feel some relief, because you know that it is in your highest and best good.

Anchor or a Sail?

Are your friends anchors or sails in your life? Do the people in your life take advantage of you, or do they support you, helping you achieve what you were put here on this earth to do? Ask yourself, "Does this relationship support me?" or "Does this relationship drag me down and leave me feeling depleted?"

Sadly, I have experienced this happen myself. Looking at the truth in your relationships can save you pain and suffering later. Often our relationships are based on untruths. We haven't been completely honest with our loved ones, leaving important information out. Are you hiding an addiction, co dependence or serious problem? Are you clinging to a fantasy, which does not support you. Sometimes we see what we want to see, rather than the reality of a situation or relationship.

Avoidance Is A Form Of Lying

When we avoid talking to someone about a serious issue, we are lying to them and ourselves. Skirting the truth is a form of lying. We avoid and waste so much energy giving when we should be setting boundaries. We keep quiet about the most serious of matters and disappointments in our relationships because we are afraid of going there. Yet not telling someone is the same as lying. We are lying to ourselves as well when we avoid the issues.

Recently, I have had two long-term friendships crumble within two months of each other. Each were based on untruths, or imbalances within the relationship.

After careful consideration of both relationships, I recognized that although I was completely honest in one of them, the fact that I thought I could have a relationship with someone who continued to live in a fantasy world about our relationship was avoidance. I had spent hours correcting the false fantasy, encouraging honesty. I had put my own feelings on the back burner, when I began being true to myself the relationship shifted. When I stopped buying into his story or ignoring it the relationship fell apart. There was nothing left. The foundation was false.

The second relationship was out of balance. I gave too much. Although there was some reciprocity it did not come close to balancing our relationship. Relationships that involve one person giving and the other taking are crumbling today. The consciousness of the planet has risen. Relationships where the truth is avoided, are imbalanced or with those who drain you psychically will not be able to continue.

I helped this person, I will call Shelly, out of bind after bind. As the years went on, phone calls came in when I was spending time with my family and I took them anyway, causing irritation in my household. I put this friendship above a lot of other things, because I knew they needed me.

Several times I took phone calls from Shelly and incidents occurred that made me stop and think. Once I locked my keys in my car while on the phone with her. This cost me time and money. I was late picking up my daughter because of it. On another occasion, I took a phone call from Shelley when I was parking my brand new car, and scuffed the side of it while parking. Most recently, I received a text from her and got into an accident while glancing at the phone. The calls were intrusive. They were far too frequent. Her energy was abrasive. I was filling a gap for her because she did not have a lot of friends or family to reach out to. It is not our job to be everything to everybody.

If your other responsibilities suffer because of what you give, the relationship is out of balance. If the cost of the relationship is too high, the relationship is not serving you.  If you help them with the same situation over and over and they don't learn, you are not helping them.

I gave money to Shelly when times were tough for her, even when I was struggling. As a channel and a psychic, I did readings and channeling professionally. Almost every time we were on the phone together, Shelly would ask me, "So tell me something good." I felt I was being taken advantage of and put on the spot. It felt like a time in my childhood when my mother would ask me to perform and play the piano for her friends. I felt like a trick pony. It made my energy dip, I felt bad. Even though I mentioned I didn't like having to do these mini readings every time we talked, she kept asking. My boundaries were being crossed with regularity. I was enabling and part of the problem.

Shelly continued to have difficulties with money, even though she made decent money in her job. She had few expenses (no car, no utilities and no debts) and shopped at REI when she got paid. I didn't shop at REI. She asked me if I could put money on her debit card so she could eat. I did so several times. I gave her hundreds of dollars over the last four years in addition to spending thousands with her on artwork and graphics.

I created work when I didn't have any, just to give her something to do to earn some money. When I asked for a book cover to be created, she retorted angrily, "Well I can't do it for free!" I found that strange, because I kept my professional requests professional and paid her for the work she did for me. In addition, I "gave" her money in between. I assured her I would pay her for the book cover and commented I was surprised at her angry retort about payment. I paid for the artwork she did for me. I did not ask for her to do work for free. It was strange that she felt she was being taken advantage of.

Shelly tended to think negatively when things in her life did not turn out the way she planned. She often spiraled downward when she could not get what she wanted. I supported her through these spirals and did free clearings for her when she did. I coached her and tried to help her see the patterns that kept repeating in her life. I helped her with one pattern more times than I could count. She was not ready to heal it. She lived in self pity most of the time.

She called me sometimes three times a day. When I had to get off the phone she seemed hurt, and took things personally. She continued to ask me when she was going to meet her partner and what was around the corner. Always asking, "Tell me something good!" when I said I needed to go. I told her briefly most recently, "You are alive!" I was not charging for these mini readings. I knew I needed to set boundaries and stop the mini readings at the end of the phone calls. I was trying to be nice and kind to my friend who was having such a difficult time. Meanwhile, while I was giving to her generously, it took away from other business matters of my own. There was a double standard in our relationship. She wanted it both ways, to get free readings and clearings, to be paid well for her work AND have me donate to her cause regularly and generously. There was imbalance in the relationship.

The recent accident, the keys locked in my car and the scuff as I was parking were all signs that something was amiss. She was my friend, but she was clearly an anchor. I was being shown that this relationship did not support me. I was trying to hang onto a relationship that clearly did not support me.  I continued to put aside the signs until the volume was cranked up so loud I could not any more.

Recognizing The Signs

The universe gave me an opportunity to see the situation very clearly. Shelly asked me to help her buy a car last week and all the dots were connected for me. She said it was okay if I couldn't contribute, but did not call me again when I did not transfer money.  The truth became very obvious to me. I had to let go.

Friendships and partnerships are crumbling rapidly when one person is being taken advantage of, or if one or both parties are being inauthentic. For example, if you have worked to be positive in your thoughts words and deeds yet continue to have a relationship with someone who calls you to dump their negativity on you repeatedly and you say nothing, you will find that conditions within the relationship make it so uncomfortable that you will not be able to be around this person any longer.

Do You Complain About Your Partner?

Relationships are based on lies if you are harboring ill feelings, or in a two-faced relationship. Married people who bad-mouth their spouse or partner to friends and family will be caught as new energy has arrived on the planet which will not allow fake to continue to hide. Complaining about your partner to others is not in integrity. Go to the source. Talk to your partner, rather than complain to someone else. You undermine intimacy and create more negativity by complaining. Look within and see why you need this negative attention and pity. It does not serve you.

Suppressing Emotions

When we avoid the truth, we are stuffing emotions. If you contain your truth without voicing it to the other person you may find that your hidden emotions surface in an ugly way. This could leave you feeling guilt-ridden and upset with yourself. Avoidance of the truth hurts you. Protecting another person puts you in second-place. Instead speak your truth with compassion and honesty. Being true to yourself is important for your emotional health and well-being.

Love Without Attachment

When we hang on, we are not loving without attachment. The universe gives us signs for a reason. We are not paying careful attention to ourselves. Love is a two-way street. If you are dying to yourself and your needs you are not paying attention. You are holding on instead of letting go. If everything I did for my friend did not get her to change, I had to let go. Perhaps I was part of the problem. Perhaps my attachment meant that she would not do her work. She depended on me to make her feel better. This was disempowering to her. Sometimes letting go is all we need to do. I let go with love.

This book was written to bridge the gap between men and women. Not only do we look different, think differently, we communicate differently.

Orgasm for Life is NOT pornographic. Orgasms have been Scientifically proven to extend life, eliminate pain, eliminate depression, increase cardiovascular health, and bring couples closer together. 80% of women fake orgasm for a reason. Orgasms are a glimpse of enlightenment. They light up over 80 centers of the brain. Nothing else fires 80 centers of the brain like an orgasm. It is special. It is meant to be a part of our lives. Men don't know what to do to get their women to the height of human pleasure with regularity.  Not only do I teach you how, I help you understand why we don't.

All women are capable of orgasm, yet 20% lay awake at night never achieving one in their lifetime. Help change this statistic. Can you imagine what it would feel like to NEVER have an orgasm? The endorphins released during orgasm relieve depression and make people happier. Make LOVE, not war! Orgasm for Life. Thank you for your contribution and help getting the word out.
