Are You Jealous of Everyone?

By Jennifer Elizabeth Masters

I remember the days when I attempted to fit in, longed for others to "like" me and felt uncomfortable in my skin. I worried about what people thought of me and often felt I was right when others had to be wrong. I "helped" others by fixing them or giving them suggestions on how they could be better.

Can you imagine?

Performing for a family member in my backyard
I was pretty, but thought I was ugly. I hated my nose. I hated my teeth. I thought my thighs were too fat. I was jealous, insecure and oh so unhappy. I was jealous of the smart girls. I was jealous of the ones with the best boyfriends. I was jealous of the attention others got instead of me.

Though I was one of the popular girls in high school, a cheerleader and on the Athletic Council, an elected post, inside of my brain was a sea of negative mind chatter that gave me no peace and kept me awake at night.

It doesn't matter what the immediate cause is; when we are filled with jealousy it is because of self-loathing and insecurities. What does matter is that we do something about it. I did. I set about to find out why I was sick all the time and to stop blaming others for the way I felt about myself. I was numb, uncomfortable, insecure, jealous, anxious, depressed and unhappy.

I didn't consider myself a jealous person, but others did. JEM

I read every self-help book I could find beginning with Louise Hay You Can Heal Your Life. I tried traditional therapies and even took Prozac after a particularly messy and ugly divorce. The Prozac just made me not feel my feelings even more than I already did.

In spite of what I have heard some clients tell me, there is no side of jealousy that is healthy.

What Does Jealousy Mean?

  • Jealousy is a sign of insecurity.
  • Jealousy is from self-loathing a form of deep seated hatred.
  • Jealousy is anger.
  • Jealous is a sign of abuse.
  • Jealousy left unhealed will kill your relationships and leave you feeling wounded, broken and wronged. Yet, we are the ones with the unbridled envy.

Why We Feel Jealous

We have core beliefs that leave us feeling unworthy or not enough. We believe that others are better than us and we are lacking. Jealousy is a form of self-sabotage. The truth is we lack our love and acceptance.

How To Overcome Jealousy

1. Recognize that we are giving our personal power away.

2. Step back. Notice what story is playing in our mind. Shift your perspective.

3. Ask: Is this true? Am I imagining this?

4. Notice your emotions. Awareness changes everything.

5. Do something physical, like taking a power walk and allow the energy of the emotions to be released.

6. Notice core beliefs. What is under the feeling of jealousy? Is it that we don't feel enough? Is it that we don't feel loved?

7. Get quiet and turn inward to connect with our higher power. Meditation will help us faster than anything get the real truth.

8. Use a mantra to calm your mind and fill up with positive feelings.

I am enough.

I love me.

I am loved.

Jealousy is hatred and inner loathing with a core belief of not being good enough.

FREE AUDIO GIFT: How To Overcome Fear Rejection Hatred By Returning to Love

By Jennifer Elizabeth Masters

When we look for love outside of ourselves, we will be hurt, disappointed, rejected and feel unloved. Only when we find the love within and experience loving thoughts will we overcome hatred, rejection, fear and the need to control.

No matter what is going on in the world focusing on it and hating what is happening isn't helpful or healing, in fact, it will hurt you and most likely cause cancer or even death. Only when we focus on loving do we overcome fear. Only when we have loving thoughts of ourselves and others do we feel loved.

The search for love isn't outside. Love is found within. Love conquers all because it is our true nature. When we completely love ourselves and have only loving thoughts do we have true peace inside. Inner peace within is the peace we long for. Do  yourself a favor and stop focusing on what others are doing, saying and creating. Instead:
Revel in your beauty and uniqueness

Be the love you wish to find.Gandhi

How To Use The Ho'oponopono Prayer To Forgive

By Jennifer Elizabeth Masters

In my practice I encounter many people stuck in unforgiveness. We don't have to like what was done to us to forgive. We certainly don't have to talk to our perpetrators to forgive them either. The best and fastest path I have found in over thirty years of healing is the Kahuna healing prayer from Hawaii, the Ho'oponopono Prayer.

When we sit in unforgiveness it is like drinking poison and expecting the other person to die.

I'm sorry
Please forgive me
I love you
Thank you

The Kahuna healers of Hawaii use this prayer to heal serious physical harm, rape, sexual molestation, and abuse. The prayer is very simple with profound healing effects.

How Healing Ourselves Heals Our Relationships

The way to use the prayer is simple.

  1. Repeat the words slowly, forgiving yourself for anything you have ever done to hurt you first.
  2. Always begin any healing practice with you first.
  3. Think about any time you ever put yourself in harm's way.
  4. Repeat the prayer.
  5. Think about any time you ever beat yourself up verbally rather than loving and accepting yourself.
  6. Repeat the prayer.
  7. Spend about fifteen minutes repeating the prayer slowly until you feel complete.

You may cry. That's perfectly natural when you turn loving words toward yourself. Allow yourself to feel whatever comes up. Feel the feelings and repeat the prayer with deeper compassion toward yourself.

To Forgive Another Person

  1. Think of the other person.
  2. Think about what the other person did to you.
  3. Breathe.
  4. Thinking about the past may bring up old feelings or hate, anger, indignation, confusion, conflict and even pain.
  5. Be compassionate toward you.
  6. Repeat the prayer slowly for about twenty minutes or more.

Why Forgive?

Forgiveness releases us from the burden of suffering. Forgiveness is for us, not the other person. We feel lighter and can let go of the past trauma once we have forgiven.

What Happens If I Don't Forgive?

Holding onto old hurts can cause diseases like cancer. Cancer is caused by deep hurt, longstanding resentment or a deep secret eating away at the self or carrying hatreds. Breast cancer is from holding all of the aforementioned plus a refusal to nourish the self, putting everyone else first, overmothering, overprotection and overbearing attitudes.

Holding onto these old hurts does you no good. Letting go and forgiving is healing for you. To be happy in life we need to forgive those who we feel have hurt us, including ourselves. Otherwise, we end up feeling the need to be rescued. Being a victim is disempowering.

Healing A Relationship
I gave this prayer to my daughter ten months before her father died, she was fifteen at the time. She was very angry with him for many reasons. I told her she needed to get over her anger and heal her relationship with her father. I printed the prayer on a post-it note. She took it and went inside her bedroom and prayed the prayer for about forty minutes. She told me she had a huge catharsis and breakthrough beyond the anger.

After doing the prayer, my daughter went on to have a very close relationship with her father until the day he died.

This prayer is magical and can heal past hate, and trauma. I highly recommend it to everyone.
