Exploring your spirituality can give you a clearer life purpose, better personal relationships and soothe you when you feel stressed, anxious or afraid.
Many people say they are Spiritual. What does being Spiritual really mean; and how can being Spiritual help you to be happy?
First, we need to understand what spirituality is and isn't.
What Spirituality Is
Spirituality relates to or affects the human spirit or soul as opposed to material or physical things. Spirituality involves the search for the sacred in all things filling the emptiness within. Spirituality is also otherworldly, mystical, metaphysical, transcendent or ethereal.
What Spirituality Isn't
People who are spiritual aren't materialistic. They have found that the material (cars, big homes, winning the lottery and relationships) although lovely will not bring lasting or permanent happiness or joy.
Those with a humanistic viewpoint, often called the cultural creatives believe in human equality, honoring the earth, make a distinction between being religious and spiritual. To spiritual people, they see religion as following a traditional path of dogma and faith.
The Road Less Traveled
Following the road less traveled can lead to finding a deeper purpose and meaning to life. Spirituality leads to deeper connections with yourself and others, the developing of a personal value system and your search for meaning in life.
To be spiritual means to find your own path in your search for the sacred.

Spiritual Practise Calms And Soothes
1. Meditation is better than taking an anti-depressant or anti-anxiety pill. Unplugging and turning off our cell phones, television and music going within gives us peace and connects us to our own Divinity or higher power. Even ten minutes at the beginning of your day can give you greater clarity, grounding, purpose and direction.
2. Silence and stillness are needed daily. Our mind and body relax when we stop moving. We live longer in a much happier state when
we allow ourselves time to be quiet, centered and still. We tap into our connection with The Divine Mind when we allow our mind to be quiet and our body still.
The simplest act of watching an ocean, waterfall or sunset can bring us fully into our body and this moment.
3. Mindfulness is the act of being present in all you do. Most of us multitask thinking that we will accomplish more this way. It has been scientifically proven that multi-tasking causes us more worry, anxiety, stress and slows productivity down.
Mindfulness is being watchful and witnessing what you are doing when you are doing it. Instead of being distracted you become engrossed and immersed in each task. Your interactions with others are heart-centered. You listen fully. People know that you hear what they are saying. Your relationships will improve and you will become happier as a result of using mindfulness daily.
4. Letting go of control releases you from the burden of making everyone happy, or being responsible for everything in the world. You can only control yourself. Attempting to control others will cause you and them pain.
5. A sense of purpose fulfills you with a higher calling. Everyone has a soul purpose. Making the most out of what you have experienced, using what you have learned to help others is part of finding your purpose.
6. Lead a healthier life. Part of being spiritual involves treating your body as a sacred temple. Eating a healthy diet of fresh fruits and vegetables, getting exercise daily will help you feel better and happier with you.
Consecrating your temple means to feed your body mind and spirit with food that supports ypracticesises that support your spiritual development and surrounding yourself with others who are like you fulfilling a greater purpose on this planet.
