Our Mind Is Not Our Friend

By Jennifer Elizabeth Masters

The mind is everything. What you think you become. Buddha

Our mind can bring us great joy, or intense suffering. Harnessing the power of the mind by turning our attention inward can be a challenge when we allow our mind to run amok. With an inner focus we can heal our obsessive thoughts, depression and even illness.

A strong identification with our ego-mind (conscious mind) can cause us tremendous suffering. Our minds can create stories that aren't real. Believing the stories we have created creates chaos and conflict in our outer world. The thoughts we think and our resistance to what is happening can cause us to feel bad both mentally and physically. Our mind can cause us to have intense emotional reactions, pain in our physical body because we believe these stories. We can create migraines, back pain and illnesses like Diabetes, Fibromyalgia, Cancer and Auto-Immune disorders.

Physical pain and illness is caused by our internal conflict and resistance.

Drinking alcohol, taking drugs or reaching for sweets to numb the pain is resistance to it.

The stories our mind creates of not being good enough, not being loved, accepted or unwanted are the source of our pain and suffering.

Ways Our Mind Causes Us To Suffer

  1. Worrying about things we can't control.
  2. Ending a relationship just as things begin to go well.
  3. Thinking happiness can't last.
  4. Having fear
  5. Waiting for the other shoe to drop.
  6. Feeling not good enough.
  7. Thinking people don't like you.
  8. Feeling unable to care for yourself or helpless as an adult.
  9. Feeling there is no way out, or trapped.
  10. Looking for approval from others.
  11. Attracting negative people into your life that could hurt you.
  12. Thinking that alcohol or drugs will make you feel better.

Our need to control everything around us is our mind trying to hold onto what we believe will make us happy. Often as soon as we get what we thought we wanted, we aren't happy with that either.

A client recently called me in a terrible emotional state. In fact, she burst into tears as soon as I answered the phone. She was upset by something that she thought had happened because of a post she read on FaceBook. She was reacting to the story that her mind created about what she read. Rather than going to the source and asking what did this mean, she created drama and trauma for herself and her friend.

I remember when my emotions ruled my life. All the past trauma I had experienced caused me to stuff emotions. The trapped emotions in my cellular body from past experiences created havoc in my relationships and my world. Everywhere I turned there was conflict because I had a conflict inside of me. I felt self-loathing because I hadn't healed the past. I felt regret for all that had happened and I hadn't realized that all those past experiences were the catalyst for tremendous growth spiritually. Once I let go of the past stories, my body healed too.

How often do you react rather than be the witness?

Harnessing The Power Of The Mind

Turning inward and focusing on what is going on inside of us allows us to see the source of the pain. Ask yourself questions, rather than jumping to conclusions.

  • What am I feeling?
  • Do I feel unloved or unworthy?
  • Am I comparing myself to others?
  • Is the thought I am having real?
  • Is what I am thinking true, or imagined?
  • Am I creating this fear from a past experience?
  • When have I felt this way before?
  • How can I feel loved right now?

Our natural state is bliss. If you aren't feeling happy and joyful, what is it you are feeling? How can you shift your emotional state to one of love and happiness? What can you do right now that will help you feel completely loved?

Mantras Heal The Mind

I have found that mantras are the fastest path to healing the mind and the crazy stories we tell ourselves. Mantras calm and soothe the mind by creating congruency in the mind and therefore the body as well. Using mantras right before sleep helps you go into a deep state of sleep where healing occurs.

Don't believe in mantras and meditation?

I had a client from India tell me she couldn't meditate. She had far too much mental chatter to meditate and resisted my recommendation to do so. She continued to do her daily prayers until one day; I suggested she just try to do the meditation. Within

three months this woman was totally free of mental chatter! She let go of her resistance and opened up to a new idea. When we let go of her resistance, miraculously her mind quieted. Amazing!

Mantras change our chemistry from acidic to alkaline. Our body will heal as our chemistry changes to alkaline.

5 Ways To Activate The Mind's Natural Opiates and Get High on Life

I am loved
I am safe
I am secure
I am beautiful
I am powerful
I am strong
God loves me
I am loved

I am strong, powerful, happy, harmonious and loving.

Our mind can be a source of great joy when we harness its power and substitute positive thoughts or mantras that play in the background of our mind. We can even heal depression by harnessing our mind's incredible power. Using mantras daily while doing mundane tasks will reprogram the mind to be in our natural state of joy, bliss, and health.

Love and Good Fortune For This Mercury Retrograde And Solar Eclipse

By Jennifer Elizabeth Masters

Mercury began its third Retrograde journey August 30th at 9:04 AM EDT. This Mercury Retrograde is entirely in the sign of Virgo, Mercury's ruling planet giving it more bang for the buck! Mercury stations direct on September 22nd. Yes, the cruel cycle of Mercury Retrograde is occurring yet again!

"Expect the unexpected," says Cheney Hall, Astrologer.

Best Use Of A Mercury Retrograde?

  • reorganizing, recycling, regrouping, reuniting
  • reconciling, reusing, recreating, renewing, re-writing
  • reconsidering, reflect, reassess, rethink,
  • renegotiate, release, renew
  • re-polishing, releasing the old, letting go

Mercury rules intellect, communications, and travel. With this Mercury Retrograde occurring in the sign of Virgo, an exacting detailed energy, we could be getting a double-whammy this time around.

Typical issues during a Mercury Retrograde are delays, issues with travel, and challenges with communications. Many relationships reflect these challenges with strife, break-ups, and fighting. Misunderstandings can be the theme of the month if you are not careful about your communication. Remember that communication is a two-way street, those you communicate with as well as those who communicate with you may not get you. The planets Venus and Jupiter provide some added benefits this time around.

The most fortuitous planets, Venus, the planet of love and Jupiter sweetly straddle Mercury bringing great fortune and love to this three-week cycle.

Venus will help to soothe communication and bring romance to friendships. Jupiter associated with journeys will smooth out issues with travel that typically surface during a Mercury Retrograde turning the focus towards profit and away from business snafus.

A Mercury Retrograde is a time to avoid large purchases like cars, computers, kitchen appliances and cell phones. Even getting your hair cut during a Mercury Retrograde could be disastrous. The result is often not what we would like.

This month we are met with an intense spiritual cleansing, awakening and a great opportunity to manifest with a magical 9-9-9-9 portal. September is the ninth month, and the end of a nine-year cycle 2016 (2+1+6= 9). This last quarter of the year is a time of wrapping up, completing that project or book before the end of the year. Next year, 2017, begins a new nine-year cycle.

Thursday's Solar Eclipse acts like a Super New Moon, which is an ideal time for setting new intentions we wish to see blossom and come to fruition six months from now. Mercury slipping into Retrograde just two days before the Eclipse could cause you to second-guess what you begin the first two weeks of September. Virgo is both the position of the Eclipse and the Retrograde, change is inevitable.

Chaos and the Unforeseen

There could be some significant chaos during the entire month of September through the fall Equinox. Delaying major decisions until after both the Lunar Eclipse on September 16th and the new moon on October 1st when Mercury will be direct and is highly recommended.

This Mercury Retrograde Is Good For:

  1. It is a great time to re-connect to the rhythm of the earth.
  2. A time to release old and outdated beliefs.
  3. Reflecting upon our archetypes of Healer, Hermit High Preist, Priestess in Sacred Service
  4. Focused positive critical thinking till after September 18th as karma comes to fruition
  5. Release limiting beliefs and old stories
  6. Get your energy cleared
  7. Assimilate and integrate new connections, ideas, information, and possibilities
  8. Regulate daily disciplines and devotional practices
  9. Dedicate yourself to healthier energy efficient lifestyle
  10. Do away with mindlessness and distractions
  11. Give more in the way of selfless service
  12. Prioritize

During the new moon, manifesting is much more powerful. The mantra and yantra below will help you focus and perform your manifesting work.

Mantra and Yantra

A mandala is a geometric pattern which represents the cosmos metaphysically or symbolically. A mandala is a microcosm of the Universe from a human perspective. Yantras use mandalas as a symbolic representation of the cosmos, aspects of Divinity and the creative forces of the universe.
Yantras create new realities, pull in the power of the Masters who have used them for centuries as a focus for meditation. These visual patterns have a powerful effect on the mind, increasing coherence, creating a balance and calming effect. Yantras can relieve stress, quieting the restless mind.
Yantras are
Using a Yantra as a focus of your meditation is a powerful way to  center the mind, purify thought, clarify communication, refine intellect and allow ease and grace in your travels.
Mercury Yantra
Using the Yantra pictured to the left and the mantra below during the next three weeks will also open the throat chakra and assist you in clearing karma. Using the power of the planet Mercury in your chanting will focus your energy and attention on these areas powerfully. The recommended number of chants is 9,000 for the month focusing on Wednesdays and on September 9th.
How To Use The Yantra
Begin by focusing on the dot in the center. This center point is called a Bindu, which represents unity that ties us all together.
Now allow your eyes to see the inner triangle. This downward facing triangle represents the feminine. The upward facing triangle represents the masculine energy.
Chant The Following Mercury Mantra For Manifesting
"Om Aim Bum Budhaya Namah"
Expand your vision to encompass the circle outside of the triangle. This circle represents the cycles of cosmic rhythm. Circles are endless and have no beginning or end.
Now allow your eyes to take in the green lotus petals where the zodiac signs lie. These petals are pointing outwards, opening, unfolding of understanding once the heart fully flowers. The heart is the center of the self. When the heart fully opens understanding occurs.
Now focus on the outer square, this represents the material or world of form. The square shape gives the illusion of separateness, with well-defined edges and boundaries. The four T-shaped portals represent the passage from the external to the internal and sacred.

How To Get The Most Out Of This Crazy Time
  • Give more expect less
  • Disconnect from devices
  • Quiet your mind
  • Single-minded focus - less multi-tasking
  • Pray
  • Meditate
  • Connect to the earth
  • Give gratitude
  • Be compassionate with yourself and others
  • Pure thoughts - upward spiraling and positive versus negative
  • Love more, judge less
  • Be open to new possibilities
  • Be flexible
  • Forgive more, resent nothing

In the shadow of Mercury Retrograde, we said a loving farewell to Gene Wilder who made so many laugh with his light-hearted comedies such as Young Frankenstein, Blazing Saddles, Silver Streak and The Producers. Farewell Gene, we love you and are grateful for the laughter you have left in our hearts.

How To Quiet Mind Chatter To Reduce Anxiety

By Jennifer Elizabeth Masters

Mind chatter can be debilitating. In fact, mind chatter can cause tremendous anxiety and fear keeping us awake at night and in fear during the day. Quieting the mind chatter takes a little practice, diligence, and discipline but will ease tension, stress and even help you feel peaceful and calm.

The more we attempt to stop thoughts, the more obsessive they become. As Einstein so aptly said, "We can't solve a problem with the same thought process that created it." We have to replace the chatter with something that breaks up the addictive thoughts. Yes, mind chatter is an addiction.

Understanding what mind chatter is, will help you short circuit the looping thoughts. Mind chatter is obsessive thoughts and running commentary or monologue about life from what others are wearing, how late you are running to how ridiculous other people are acting. It is judgment, criticism that often runs in a loop, repeating and repeating until you are exhausted.

Most people feel that a running commentary is normal. These thoughts that continue after your head hits the pillow cause an acid environment in your body and anxiety. Most of the thoughts we think are negative.

Telling your mind to stop doesn't work. Since most of the thoughts we think are automatic, we have to replace the thoughts with something that calms the mind and soothes the soul. Mantras do both.

Mantras Heal and Calm

Using a series of mantras slowly in the background of your mind (silently) will calm your stress and replace the worrisome thoughts with something positive, affirming and healing. Mantras are different than worrisome thoughts as they create longer brain waves that calm both the body and mind.

It doesn't matter what language you use for the mantras, English works just fine too! Suggested mantras that worked well for me are below the instructions. Enjoy! Let me know on FaceBook how these worked for you.

1. Pick one phrase to use that feels good to you and repeat it gently slowly and silently in the background of your mind. You don't want to run a mantra through as fast as your obsessive thoughts, as you are just replacing one obsession with another. SLOW DOWN.

2. Repeat each mantra slowly as you do mundane tasks, and even once you go to bed. You can change mantras after about five to seven minutes. Each mantra should be positive, life and health affirming.

3. Breathe slowly and deeply. Most people breathe shallowly barely affirming life. Slow deep breathing will help to bring you into the present moment, calm you and fill your lungs with much- needed oxygen.

Suggested Mantras

I am loved

I am safe

I am secure

I am worthy

I am grateful for my life

I am the light of The Divine inside me

I am strong, powerful, harmonious, loving and happy.

I know that these mantras work. I began using mantras in July of 2007 and my mind became completely quiet within months. With a quiet mind, your health improves, you become peaceful and calm where you can co-create your life from an empowered place.

5 Ways To Activate The Brain's Natural Opiates To Get High On Life

By Jennifer Elizabeth Masters

Washing my ceramic tile floor this morning I was thinking of how much I love a clean house but don't like the act of cleaning. In fact, I avoid doing the things I hate at all costs. How many things do you do on a daily basis that you hate to do? Why not activate your brain's natural opiates instead and get high on life. Here are 5 of my favorite ways:

1. Hire a housekeeper. Having someone else do the jobs you hate to do allows you time to do things you love doing. This one is very high on my list. Not only will you have more time to do the things you love, you will enjoy your clean house. Having order in your home is paramount to feeling peaceful and high on life.

2. Walk outside in nature. More people are living in urban environments now than ever before. We need trees, greenery and plants around us for vibrant health. Science supports the theory that getting out in nature relieves anxiety; obsessive thoughts decrease while cognition and memory improve. Nature makes us feel good. Rock climbing, cycling, or just walking out in a park away from buildings gives us

Our telomeres which are at the end of our DNA strands become more flexible rather than brittle extending life and youthfulness with regular exercise, especially in nature. Smoking, obesity, lack of exercise, and unhealthy diet is a predictor of Telomere shortening.  Associated Telomere shortening is a predictor of the early onset of age-related illnesses, osteoporosis, diabetes, cancer and coronary disease.

3. Celebrate life through dance. Tribal peoples have always known that dance is important not only to celebrate life but because it feels so good. Dance can lead to a feeling of ecstasy found in sex or a runner's high, releasing oxytocin, serotonin and activating the opiates in the brain. When we get beyond regular movement into trance dancing or ecstatic dance endorphins are released, and we experience a natural high. The brain also has natural opiates to decrease pain; dance can help you in many ways.

4. Orgasm. Whether you are single or partnered experiencing an orgasm is an incredible high. Witness the rush of kundalini up the spine and into the frontal cortex of the brain and third eye - it is amazing! Seratonin, oxytocin, and endorphins are released at the time of orgasm. Pain is suppressed, and the brain receives a high. What's not to like?

5. Chant or repeat mantras. There is science behind the ecstatic chanting of monks and Saints. Ecstatic chanting is very similar to sexual activity in the brain, causing you to feel high. The following excerpt is from The Scientific American Book of Love, Sex and the Brain by Judith Horstman and Scientific American:

“Jefferson University neuroscientist Andrew Newberg scanned the brains of praying Catholic nuns and meditating Buddhist monks and found some overlap between their neural activity and that of sexually aroused subjects (as seen in scans from other researchers). The correlation makes sense, according to Newberg. Just as sex involves a rhythmic activity so do religious practices such as chanting, dancing and repetition of a mantra. Religious experiences produce sensations of bliss, transcendence beyond one’s self and unity with the loved one that is very like the ecstasy of orgasm. That may be why some mystics, such as St. Teresa, describe their rapture with romantic or even sexual language.”

Mantras are what I used to quiet my mind chatter. I hadn't had brain chatter since 2007 when I began doing a process called Ascension. Now I teach a similar method which leads to congruency in the brain. Mantras elongate our brainwaves that create congruency. Congruency in the brain calms us down and makes us feel good. Following are several you can use.

How To Use Travel As A Moving Meditation and Quiet Solitude

By Jennifer Elizabeth Masters

“The biggest adventure you can ever take is to live the life of your dreams.” - Oprah Winfrey
14,000 feet in Estes Park, Co

Many people take vacations and travel during the summer months. I love to travel and do so often. Since my awakening, I find that travel soothes my soul and is good for my adventurous spirit. It's the middle of June and so far this year, I have traveled to Toronto, Boulder and Denver, Colorado three times and Atlanta, Georgia. Tomorrow I load my car up with my dogs; leave my cats behind and head back to Colorado and then fly to Toronto.

Karma and Yoda love road trips
Though the drive to Colorado is long - 15.5 hours without a stop and 995.5 miles, I enjoy the trip immensely. In five years I have put 150,000 miles on my little Honda. I stop every two hours to stretch, empty one tank and fill up the other. Stopping gives Yoda and Karma a chance to stretch as well. Sometimes we even stop at a roadside lake to take a swim! I take two days to make this trip and have some amazing experiences with wildlife or humans along the way.

Karma cooling off in Colorado

If you are bored with life and long for adventure, why not try a road trip instead of boarding an airplane. It has been scientifically proven that just planning a trip can make you happier! Following are the Spiritual benefits I derive from my road trips.

Amazing sites:

taken by Jennifer in Colorado

I have seen eagles at rest stops that do flyovers repeating their circuit several times right over me, before flying off to catch a fish or rabbit. I see rabbits, deer, and elk. I have had elk drink out of my cupped hands at the Grand Canyon.

Arizona

Every encounter I have with an animal has an air or magic to it. Animals show up to teach us something. I never see an animal without wondering what the message is for me. (My sons would make fun of me for this
Yes, I was this close!
when they did landscaping with me. "Look, there's a hawk! I wonder what it means!" as I drove off the edge of the road with my truck and trailer.)

This video was taken on top of the highest peak in Estes Park, Colorado. This elk cow stuck her head in our window, even with two dogs in the car.
As I headed to my car so was this deer!

Guidance:

I drive much of the way in silence, only turning on music when I begin to get drowsy or start falling asleep at the wheel. When I am on the road, I am in a flow state, elated and quiet. I stream consciousness getting information about a new book or blog I need to write, client or new certification I need to be teaching.

Away from the cell phones and congestion in the city or town, I hear clearly. I spend much of the time on the road clearing clients that need some TLC or do mantras in my head.

Angelic Experiences

I have an agreement with beings on the other side of the veil. They are to wake me up if I fall asleep at the wheel. Sometimes, they are very busy keeping me awake. I am in a high state of consciousness for much of my trip. Sometimes, I fall asleep. Right outside of Memphis during Ariel's and my move to Boulder, I fell dead asleep. When I did both left wheels of my car drove up on the median concrete wall.

I had no idea that I was asleep until the angelic being that saved us, set my car back down on the road with a very loud THUNK! I opened my eyes to see the car touching down onto the road. Ariel sat up immediately with a "What the F*** MOM!" Since that time, I have been much more diligent about eating crispy snacks and playing loud music when I get sleepy. I have work to do and I can't do it dead!

Often when driving at night I see cloud-like beings over my hood as if to protect me.

Ghostly Beings

Crossing between Boulder and Atlanta to visit I saw three wispy wafts of clouds along the road on the grassy edge of the median. There were three wisps in a row in broad daylight. At first, I thought they were smoke. However when I looked back in my mirror I realized that they were three spirits from a car accident,
stuck in that place. They hovered slightly above the ground at the same level. The plane where spirits are is slightly above this earth plane. Which is why when we see spirits they hover, rather than having feet that touch the ground.

I did a prayer and asked that they be received in the light. I opened a portal for them to be released from the earth plane.

The Perfect Person at The Perfect Time

Yoda in Arizona
On my last drive to Colorado in April, I met a photographer at the Blair Ranch rest area when I asked how could I effortlessly and easily get a great photo of Yoda and me? It wasn't ten minutes between me asking the question and me meeting Mark Dexter a cinematographer. He was already taking photos of Yoda before I asked him to. Mark's business is called Simply Love Films. He does beautiful wedding videos in a very innovative way. If you are looking for a videographer, you won't be disappointed with Mark.

We Need Quiet Solitude

On the road, I am out of cell phone range for most of my trip. My phone doesn't ring. It is quiet. Yoda and Karma sleep in the back seat and I am alone with myself. The quiet is good for my soul. There is no talking and no music for much of my trip across California, Nevada, Arizona, Utah into Colorado. In this quiet, I recharge.

I revel in the beauty of the changing landscape. I find beauty wherever I go. Nature is thrilling to me. I am excited by mountains, rivers and waterfalls that speed past me. I take photos on the wing. My crazy nature ride is what enlivens my spirit and takes my breath away.

I am at peace with me.

Jennifer helps survivors overcome trauma. She is currently working with a client in Denver, Colorado to heal breast cancer naturally. All illness begins with an emotion coupled with a thought. Illness is a sign that you have ignored your body-mind-spirit.

If you aren't happy, depressed, anxious or are looking for love, Jennifer can help.

Jennifer has healed her past trauma and is now a catalyst for others. Her presence alone is healing. Recently, at Happiness Fest in Atlanta, Georgia, everyone who sat down to work with Jennifer cried. People came away saying to Adam of NakedHealthy, "Your mother is amazing!"

Jennifer is a Mystic. She is an awakened healer. She loves herself fearlessly and can help you do the same. Nothing Jennifer asks you to do she hasn't already done herself, many times. Happiness is a choice. You have to choose happiness. You can choose happiness today, by sending Jennifer an e-mail you can begin your healing journey. Jennifer works only with those committed to heal. Not everyone is a good fit for her work.

3 Ways To Overcome Fear

By Jennifer Elizabeth Masters

I have just returned from a ten-day trip to two of my favorite places on this earth, Boulder, Colorado, and Sedona, Arizona. In Boulder, I visited two of my adult children, which brings me great joy. In Sedona, I made a stepped out of my comfort zone, made a new friend and pushed myself beyond an old fear. This is how I did it.

My new friend took me to the Airport Vortex, a very easy climb for my older dog Karma. It was a lovely site, with incredible energy and views. The following day we went to Cathedral Rock a huge vortex of energy with treacherously slick rocks, a 600-foot rise, with few places for a foothold.

Clearing Fears

I have had a fear of heights all my life. I have worked to move past my fears, clearing those fears. Climbing Cathedral Rock was a real test to see if those fears truly were gone.

I had nothing to prove to anyone. I did this climb for myself. I stopped on a plateau to rest and seriously considered not climbing to the top. There were other women at this level that let their men and families do the steep, slick climb without them. There is no
shame in not doing something you choose not to do. I asked myself what was holding me back? I heard an old pattern that was gone. To prove this to myself, I chose to do the climb.

My friend offered some suggestions and guided me to the safest places to ascend. I listened as he was a seasoned climber. I rested when I needed to. I focused on being safe, using a powerful mantra. "I AM SAFE."

It took about an hour and a half to reach the summit. Once I did, I felt such exhilaration for pushing myself to reach the top. I felt accomplishment. I felt satisfied. I felt fulfilled. I also felt joy!

How To Overcome Fears

  1. Take small bites. Put one foot in front of the other. Focus on what is right in front of you, rather than the whole project or climb.
  2. Use a mantra. I am loved. I am safe. I am secure. Mantras heal the unconscious mind.
  3. Stay Positive. Look at what you have done already. Focus on the best outcome for you. Know that you have already done so much. You are capable. You are wise. You are powerful. You are worthy.
One of the major improvements and values that I add for my clients is a clearing of beliefs, fears, anxiety, and worry. These are often trapped emotions from long-ago events. Our mind continues to replay these events even when the danger is no longer present. We continue to send out these emotions unconsciously bringing back more situations for us to fear, or be afraid of. Having the trapped emotions cleared shifts your perspective. You stop attracting things you fear. You eventually, like me, stop being afraid of anything.

Life is great living Fearlessly!

I love you!

Testimonial From A Client

Jennifer,  I just wanted to let you know how much I appreciate what you do, You have taught me so much, I have started manifesting, When i decided to start fresh, and get rid of all of my old furniture from my marriage, I did not have a couch or a chair in my living room, I knew that i would find something that i could afford,  I was without any furniture in my living room for about a month, but I was happy and I did not lose hope that i would get furniture,  First i manifested a large rocker recliner , that my neighbor had sitting out on the curb, perfect shape!   A few days ago i manifested a couch! again sitting out by the curb 2 houses down, It still had the original tags and in perfect shape,( My sister and I must have looked very strange carrying a couch down the street) My rich neighbors explained that they had bought the couch and forgot it was still in storage, and now had no use for it , but did not want to go through the hassle of selling it.   Since my living room was not big enough for both the couch and the chair, I advertised the chair on a local site for a very low price and someone offered me more for it!   My next manifestation is an 2016 Nissan Altima , I am already thanking God for it,I will have it after the 9th of Dec.  I sent a picture of my couch in another E-mail,
God Bless you Jennifer AK
